Ch. 7
“Zane this isn’t funny! Put me down!” I scream again
“Not unless you promise to behave.” He says and I swear I can hear that devilish smirk in his teasing tone.
“You’re a prick!”
“Those words can really damage a person you know.” Again with the teasing tone that’s really beginning to rake against my nerves.
“If you don’t put me down this instant I swear when I finally get free of your grasp I’m going to shove my foot so hard in your taint that you will taste the dirt from shoe!” I scream with rage coming off me like waves of heat.
“Is that a threat or a promise.” He says smooth and deep, like what I said is enticing. Ugh there’s no winning with him. Hmm what if I play along?
“If you let me down I’ll go with you willingly.” I sigh out in hopes that he buys it.
“Nice try, but I’m not falling for it.” He chuckles out.
“You know kidnapping is against the law.” I spit out as my last resort. I feel his shoulders shake in my lower abdomen and hear his laughter echo out of the cave as we reach the opening. He bends over slightly; still holding me to him firmly, but my upper half starts to fall towards the ground. In my haste to not hit the ground with my head I sink my nails into his shoulders and squeeze my eyes shut as hard as I can.
“Ow…” Zane says still laughing. I open my eyes just a little and see his face just inches from mine. His green eyes alight as he stares at me with a goofy smile plastered on his face. I’m dazed by how much his face transforms when he’s laughing. He’s downright beautiful, open teeth grin suites him, the commotion in my stomach causes me to loosen my grip just enough to where I fall and smack my shoulders onto the hard packed dirt. My turn to say ow.
“Are you ok?” he asks letting go of my legs and holding out his hand. Worry is etched in his once smiling eyes as he pulls me up and into his chest. I let it happen; he feels warm and comfortable against me and I will never be able to get enough of his scent. I bury my face deeper into his chest breathing in deep, filling my lungs full of him. He starts to laugh again and I perk my head up to see his carefree smile.
“What?” I ask.
“Are you sniffing me?” he asks and my cheeks burn with embarrassment. I pull away from him quickly and go straight to readjusting my clothes, trying my hardest not to look at him.
“It’s ok… if you… if you are … I mean…I know I smell good.” He says trying to breathe through his fit of laughter. Maybe this is my chance… I can run… he’s distracted. I sprint not over thinking it and before I even broke through the threshold of the trees his hand grasps my upper arm firmly.
“I’m a werewolf Aveie, don’t ever think you can out run me.” He says sternly but with a hint of amusement in his eyes. I’m not at all happy about the nickname he just sprang on me but seeing the situation I’m in, I’ll take the lesser of evils.
“Are you really going to force me to go to with you?” I ask, pulling out the puppy eyes that always work on my Aunt.
