Finn and Rachel had been back together for some weeks now and they couldn't be any happier. They finally found the love they lost in each other, but all of their friends had left, went back to either Akron or Lima, so it was just Rachel and Finn in New York with no friends to talk to.
F: It's starting to get kind of lonely around here, maybe we should go back home?
R: Well, home for me is Akron, Finn. You know that. I just can't move to Lima, and plus what about you with this "playroom" and the contract. What happened to all that? The issues with your life. You finding out that Quinn isn't dead.
F: I'm trying to not focus on the life I had before I met you, and with Quinn, I don't... I'm not sure if I can ever look at her, or talk to her again. I forgot all about her honestly, and I don't want to worry about any of that. I don't want to be a dominant anymore, that's why I want to go home.
R: But this all started in Lima, I remember you told me that.
F: But maybe if I go where it all started, I can end this. I want us to be happy together, and the only that can happen is if I go home and end the shaded life that I've lived. It's time to go home. I need to end this.
R: Ok. If that is what you want, that's what I'll happen. I don't want this to tear us apart. I promise that I'll help you through this, we'll end this together.
Finn and Rachel packed their bags and went to the airport. They went to Lima, it was time to end the life Finn had lived, with everything he's been through. It was time that Finn's shaded life be put to rest.
