I stood before the city of Paris in horror.

Flames covered one side while a storm raged on the other, both areas were demolished.

Buildings burnt to the ground, various items that people had dropped in a panic littered the streets of the once populated city.

But now everything is quiet.

Too quiet.

Every breath I exhaled made me feel as if a needle were dropping onto the ash and snow covered pavement, echoing around me as if in an empty school hallway.

The Eiffel Tower was up in smoke, the thick gray stuff was covering the sky.

I coughed through it, the putrid smell filling my lungs as I stepped forward to survey the aftermath.

I felt tears spring to my eyes as I walked down each street slowly, but managed to hold them back.

However, I lost it when I took a step and I heard something crumble under my right foot.

Slowly, I removed my foot to see a crumbled up paper. I bent down and gingerly picked it up, bringing it up to my face so that I could get a better look.

Carefully, I unwrapped it and I felt my knees buckle beneath me as I realized it was not a paper, but a photograph.

I barely registered the slight sting of pain that shot up my legs when I fell to the ground, only continuing to examine the photo with tears escaping my eyelids.

The picture was of a family that consisted of two adults-a mother and father-as well as three children, all huddled together in warm sweaters underneath a leave-less tree, a light snow dusting the ground behind them.

They were smiling such bright smiles that immediately reminded me of my own family and friends.

Mom, Dad, Alya, Nino...Adrien.

Everyone was gone, and I had a sickening feeling that it was all my fault.

As tears streamed down my mask and cheeks, I could faintly hear footsteps tapping the ash-covered street before me.

I felt as if I knew who it was, but I cautiously brought my head up anyway.

My bangs fell into my eyes as they widened, my breath catching in my throat as I saw the person stop before and stare down at me menacingly.

"Hello...Marinette."

I shot up from my restless sleep, a cold sweat beading down my forehead and my heart hammering loudly in my chest.

My eyes searched the area around me thoroughly before I realized that it was only a dream, and slumped back into my chair.

Wait...chair?

I quickly stood up with wide eyes, the metal chair that belonged to one of the tables in the bakery screeching against the tiled floors.

"Oh no! I must have fallen asleep down here!" I mumbled to myself frantically, quickly wiping my forehead and dashing up the stairs to my room.
