(Y/N) POV

It was the morning of your first day back at school: Gotham Academy. You had been dreading this day for weeks, ever since you first broke up for the summer. You were now heading into your junior year with an open mind, ignoring all the past drama and arguments you had been involved with in the past.

The high pitched beeping tone of your alarm woke you up. You groaned as you leaned over to turn it off. "Fuck you," you thought as you saw the time.

6:30 am

After about half an hour of just lying in your bed, you finally got up and started to get ready for school. You quickly got dressed and ate your breakfast and hurried to catch the bus as you were already running late.

You arrived at your homeroom just about on time and sat at the desk next to (B/F/N). Underneath his/her eyes were two huge black bags.

"Don't even mention it," He/She said.

"You look like shit! What happened?" You asked.

He/She glared at you, "It was the Red Bull. It kept me up all night last night as well, so I ended up watching Netflix all night."

You gave him/her an understanding look just as the teacher walked in. (B/F/N) covered his/her face with his/her hands and placed their head on the table. You smiled and rolled your eyes.

Looking around the classroom you realised that the forms had been mixed up. (The school liked to do this so that students could make 'new friends' when all it really did was piss everyone off.) You recognised a few of the other students but couldn't place a name on them.

Suddenly the bell rang and you were given the timetable for the next year. You scanned over it to see what lesson you had next. French. "Great, what a boring way to start the year" you groaned as you walked towards the classroom.

It was the last lesson of the day: maths. There were ten more minutes until the lesson ended. Your teacher had given you a pop quiz at the beginning of the lesson to see how much you knew from last year. You dreaded to see what you scored, maths has never been your strong point and your teacher had been pestering you about getting a mentor. You scanned over the page and at the bottom read your score:

8/25

'Dammit,' you thought to yourself as you started to look around at other people's scores.

23/25

25/25

21/25

22/25

It was the end of the lesson and you quickly packed your bag to get home. Just as you were about to leave you heard your name being called. You turned around to see the maths teacher wanted a word with you. 'Shit' you thought to yourself as you walked back towards your desk.

"Yes Miss," you said

"Due to the fact that your results on the recent quiz were remarkably lower than the average I have assigned you a mentor that you shall see every Thursday after school for one hour. The school has notified your parents and if you do not oblige there shall be consequences. You should know we only want what's best for you and we know you have a lot of potential and we want you to work to the best of your ability"

You had heard this speech a thousand times before but just ignored it. However today you knew that she was right and that your SATs were coming up in the not so distant future and you didn't want to fail them. Despite that you were still pissed that you would have to spend an hour of your free time with some math geek lecturing you about trigonometry.

"Yes Miss, I understand," you said trying to keep the gravel out of your voice.

"Very well. You may return home now."

You sighed as you walked back to your locker. You looked at the time and saw it was already 4:15. Your train was leaving in 5 minutes and there was no way you'd make sit to the station on time.

"Fuck, I'm never gonna get home now" you whispered to yourself.

"(Y/N) (L/N) right?"

You heard a voice from behind you and you twisted around to see two icy blue eyes looking into your (E/C) ones. The boy had his hand extended out for you to shake and you did just that.

"Yeah, and you are?"

"Damian Wayne, I believe I'll be tutoring you for maths this term," He said in a more formal manner.

"So you're my mentor?" You said with a smile, "Phew! I thought you'd be a total maths nerd!"

"So you're not under the belief that being smart is a weakness like all my other associates do?" He said with a small smile.

"Well when you speak like that I might change my mind," you giggled as glanced at the clock and saw the time. Your face dropped.

"Shit, I've missed my train!" You sighed as you started to put your coat on.

"I'm happy to take you back to your house. I've got a limousine waiting outside."

You were genially shocked by this offer but you couldn't decline it.

"That's really nice of you Damian thank you"

"You're most welcome (L/N) but watch your language"

You both smiled as you walked towards the smart looking limo waiting for you outside. Damian opened the door for you.

"Ladies first"
