All you could see was a blinding white light. There was a throbbing pain in your head and legs. You were lying on something cold and hard but you were comfortable and didn't want to move.
Your eyes started to adjust and you looked around you to try to get an idea of where you were. The first thing that caught your eye was a heavy-duty computer with lots of screens, all shining blue-white what looked like a symbol of a bat on each one. You were lying on a metal operating table and when you looked down at the source of the pain you saw one leg had bandages wrapped around the shins and on the other, they were around the ankle.
You heard footsteps approaching you, you looked in that direction to see it was Damian, he was wearing his Robin uniform, less the domino.
"How are you feeling? I'm glad you're awake," he smiled and held your hand.
"My head's feeling fuzzy," you groaned.
Damian leaned forward and planted a kiss on your forehead.
"Better?" He asked.
"Surprisingly, no." You laughed.
"You're lucky you can even remember who I am after what happened last night."
"Yeah, what did happen last night by the way? The last thing I remember was the huge explosion."
"The Joker returned but everything's under control, there's nothing to worry about."
"Right, but I still don't know where I am." You remembered that you were somewhere you didn't recognise.
"Of course, I forgot to mention that after what happened you needed serious medical attention and this is the only place I knew would give you that quick enough, Gotham General Hospital's emergency section is always at least a 30-minute wait." He explained.
"So you took me here?"
"You were dying!"
You jumped up and hugged him, despite the pain that had now spread throughout your whole body.
"Thank you for saving my life."
"It's what I do," he laughed and he picked you up. "Come on, let's get you somewhere more comfortable for you to rest."
He carried you all the way up to his bedroom and lied to down on his bed.
"At least one good thing came out of this," you said.
"What good could have possibly come out of what happened?"
"I don't have to go to school for the next few days."
"Don't worry about that we could easily get you a wheelchair, plus from your test results you are physically able to walk, there are just a few stitches." He laughed.
"Don't you dare get me a wheelchair, Wayne! I am staying in this bed and not moving a muscle for the next few days no matter what some stupid tests say." You were actually starting to get mad at the fact that you could be going into school tomorrow, you really didn't feel up to it.
"It was a joke (Y/N), you're welcome to stay here as long as you need, just get some rest." He headed towards the door.
"Damian?"
"Yeah?" He looked around back at you.
"Please stay?"
"If you insist," he smiled and closed the door. For a few minutes, he disappeared into his walk-in wardrobe and he returned wearing some tracksuit bottoms and a plain t-shirt. He then climbed into the bed next to you carefully so he didn't touch any of your injuries.
"Where's everyone else?" You asked, realising it was just the two of you left in the manor.
"I sent Pennyworth to bed and the others are out fighting crime on the streets of Gotham."
"Why aren't you? You are Batman's partner."
"As much as I love punching the scum of Gotham to unconsciousness, I had to be here for when you woke up, I didn't want you to be alone." He wrapped one arm around your waist and you rested your head on his chest.
"My hero, I love you, Damian Wayne," You told him as you started to close your eyes.
"I love you too, (Y/N)," were the last words you heard him say before you drifted off to sleep.
