Monday had come around quickly and you were on the bus to school listening to (favourite song). You had explained to your family that you had spent the past few days at (B/F/N)'s house and thankfully they believed you without asking many questions. However you couldn't say the same about (B/F/N) when you arrived at your desk they were already bombarding you with questions,

"Where were you? I haven't seen you in days! And you only replied with 'k' to all the texts that I sent you!"

"I'm sorry for worrying you (B/F/N), I'll explain everything later, I just can't do it here." You knew you were going to have to tell them about your secret sooner or later and it was best for you to break the news rather than them finding out themselves. Just then, the bell rang and the teacher walked into the classroom.

"Back to your seats please students, I have an announcement to make."

"Come back to my place later to explain then," (B/F/N) whispered and then went back to their seat. You nodded in response.

"Right class, I am here to inform you that prom is coming up in a few weeks, there are flyers to take for more information on your way out." People were glancing at each other and giving each other looks as this was announced. This would be your first prom now that you were in your junior year, despite this, you didn't feel the sudden discomfort you normally had when a school dance or formal was announced. You no longer had the pressure of finding someone to go with and the drama that goes along with that.

Soon the bell rang and you walked to your locker to get your books for your next lesson. As you did so you were greeted by Damian, who was leaning on the locker next to yours and smiling down at you.

"Good morning (Y/N)."

"Hey D, what's up?"

"Oh, I.. umm.. just wanted to confirm we were going to that pathetic dance thing together," he said in a dull tone.

"So is this is your promposal?"

"Prom-what? - Yeah, I guess, don't you want to go with me?"

"Of course I want to go with you but I was expecting something a bit more romantic when you asked like roses, fireworks, poems et cetera."

He chuckled, "Noted, next time I'll just write my own song and serenade you."

"Yeah, that's exactly what you should have done," you laughed.

"You've been watching too many cheesy romance movies (L/N)."

"Maybe," you giggled closing your locker, Damian then walked you to your next class as it was on the way to his.

It was now the end of school and you were on your way to (B/F/N)'s house as promised earlier that morning. You knew today was the day you would tell the truth, you couldn't keep it from them any longer, you would always tell each other everything.

When you arrived (B/F/N) grabbed some snacks and drinks for the both of you and you sat on their bed.

"So, spill. What is going on with you lately? You have gone missing for days at a time and lately, you've been distant. If there's anything you're going through you can tell me, I can help if you just need someone to talk to." (B/F/N) sat next to you on the bed while stuffing their face with Doritos.

And then you explained everything, minus the part that Damian was Robin or the fact that everyone in his family were either crime-fighting vigilantes or crazy assassins, that wasn't your secret to tell. So you didn't exactly tell them everything. Nonetheless, they listened to every word you had to say without raising too many difficult questions and, thankfully, they didn't freak out too much about it and sincerely promised not to tell another living soul.

That evening you just talked until you checked the time and saw that it was getting really late. You had a training session with Damian as well in an hour so you really needed to get going.

"Oh shit! Lost track of time I've got to get back. Thank you for listening and understanding (B/F/N), I'm so grateful to have such a great best friend." You said hugging them.

"No problem (Y/N), just as long as you promise me you'll stay safe. Well at least as safe as you can be when fighting criminals."

You laughed and grabbed your coat and made your way home. When you arrived you briefly spoke to your parents and then rushed straight up to your room to get changed. You opened your curtains to leave but as you did so you were greeted by Robin.

"What you doing here?"

"There's been a change of plan. I've found somewhere better for us to train, with more space and privacy. Just follow me."

"Alright." And you carefully climbed out of your window and followed him down to street level. He led you to a dark corner where he revealed his motorbike and climbed on.

"Coming?" He asked, patting the seat behind him. You walked over and say there, wrapping your arms around his waist and resting your head on his shoulder.

"Where are we going?" You asked.

"Patience is a virtue, beloved," was the only answer you received and he drove off.

He drove for 20 minutes and you were approaching the surrounding forests, you were starting to feel slightly on edge, as the only light was the white beam from the vehicle. You subconsciously held onto Damian tighter.

Soon you arrived at an opening in the trees and the bike came to a halt. You got off and you were now standing at the top of a large cliff that overlooked the whole city. For about another 100 meters there weren't any trees, just a flat patch of grass, this was a much better training spot despite the creepy journey through the dark forest.

"Um.. (Y/N), there's something I've got to ask you." You snapped out of your daze and turned to Damian who was now holding a bunch (favourite colour) roses.

"What is it?" You smiled excitedly.

He got down on one knee, "(Y/N) (L/N), would you make me the happiest guy on this planet and allow me to take you to prom?"

"You already know my answer Damian, of course, I'll go with you. Why do you always have to be so goddamn perfect?!" You said tightly hugging him. He slowly pulled away and rested his forehead on yours, "Because you deserve perfect," he whispered, his warm breath lightly touching your lips.

"I don't deserve you, Damian."

"I know, you deserve so much more."

Hearing these words from him brought tears to your eyes, you felt you had never done anything special and yet he still thinks after everything he's done for you, he's still not good enough. Your thoughts were interrupted by his lips on yours. You didn't hesitate to kiss back, you pulled him in even closer to deepen the kiss.

However, after only a few seconds there was a loud banging sound. And then another. And then there were about 10 in a row. You reluctantly pulled away and saw the night sky was lit up by fireworks. At that moment no words were needed, you just rested your head on Damian's shoulder and watched the display in awe.
