One Step: New Life

I just want to go on the record and say. That I would of never saw this day coming. Like All the stuff I been threw I knew I wouldn't make it to see this day. Like everything was playing back in my head. Today was graduation day and I made it. I couldn't help but cry a lil. My life was just around the corner. A new life for me. A new start. New beginning. A new me. Checking my phone I only had one text and it was from Lamont.

Lamont: Aye I ran out to the store...Ima meet you at the ceremony. I'm so proud of you son. I love you.

You would to think he would have grown on me by now. Nope I still had my hang ups with Lamont but the offer to go to a whole another state away from Rae and now Tobias was worth more than anything. Standing in front of the mirror I had on my cap and gown. Looking at the pretty royal blue made butterflies form in my stomach.

"Alex...boy if you don't come on you gonna be late for your on graduation!"

My Auntie yelled up the steps. Walking down the steps she stood there in her lime green t-shirt and some white Capris and my uncles with his Sean john track suit on. Both they looked funny. As we hopped in the car I text Tabby to see where she was at.

TabzKilla: wehsup hoe yasss it's our graduation bish!!!!

Me: Ikr...wyd

TabzKilla: On the way to the dorm with bae...gul I'm so ready.

Me: Shi me too and then we are flying out to Cali to live it up Yass!!!

TabzKilla: Yass but um...what happened last night with you and T?!

Me: Shi nothing...I said my peace and kicked him out. We over with like I don't fucks with him no more.

TabzKilla: Mhm kk...y

Me: Gul not today...I ain't got time for him. He said what he had to say and so did I and that's it.

TabzKilla: Ight bish...but see ya when you get here cuz Its turn up time.

I didn't feel like texting back. I put my ear buds in my ear and listen to my tunes until we got to the dorm. Pulling up I saw everybody lining up. Hopping out the car I met up with Tabby and snapped a couple of pictures back we went in. The place was packed, and I was slick getting nervous by the minute. Looking around I didn't see Rae nowhere. I was hoping he was doing ok. Last night he wasn't himself at all.

"Yasss Bitch we did it bitch!!!!!"

Tabby said jumping up and down with me wrapped in her arms. Rushing out the stadium to meet with our families We was both greeted with flowers and hugs. Smiling from ear to ear.

"I'm so proud of you Alex!"

My aunt spoke grabbing and bear hugging me as if I was leaving her for good. With all this excitement it brought me joy in my heart. I looked up to the sky. It was clear and blue as the ocean. I knew my mother was smiling looking down at me.

"Ok...so what now hun?"

Auntie asked.

"Umm food I'm hungry."

After blowing at least a hundred at olive garden. We all retired back to the house. I wanted to get a head start on my packing because Lamont wasn't playing we was leaving tomorrow afternoon.

"Girl so when you are coming out there!"

I asked tabby not wanting to be alone.

"Next month. Alex don't worry you will be fine. Bae just need to finalize things out there before we move."
