She was a flame
                              A wildcat
                              I gladly couldn't tame
A lover of light and of mine
                              Until she tripped into darkness
                              And fell from our entwine
                              Toes against unseen stones
                              She, happy with the pain
                              Her new shelter of bones
                              I tried to remember
                              What her eyes once were
                              Each a flaming ember
                              pools of green and gold
                              resultant alchemy fourfold
                              Yet memory can't hide reality
                              Those pools of light
                              Where we swam a tapestry
                              Now, frozen night
                              I watched from safety
Her scream and flail at the void
                              Trapped underneath the ice
                              Unready to be destroyed
                              1/28/13
