I woke up in the morning with an urge to corner Reed. It was the second time. The second time that he had stood me up, with no explanation whatsoever. To make matters worse, he said he would call me when he was done, and frankly, he didn't.
I quickly brushed my hair and put on some ripped jeans and a white tee. After I did my makeup, I trotted down the stairs, and gave Ginger a last pat before leaving her sleeping on the sheets.
Mom was already in the kitchen, making toast as she drank her coffee with the other hand.
"Hey mom."
Mom turned around and gave me a wide grin.
"Hey sweetie, what do you want for breakfast?"
I walked up to her and snatched the warm piece of bread out of her hand. "Just this. I need to talk to Reed."
My mom pouted before giving me a quick hug. "Boy problems?"
I grabbed my keys and walked out the front door, "You could say that."

As I drove towards the school, I found myself getting angrier. Maybe it was because of last night's dream, or the fact that this was the first time that Reed had openly kept something from me, but either way, I needed to find him soon.
I parked at an open space around the middle of the parking lot.
Glancing over to the front of the school, I expected to see Reed waiting for me, just like he always did, but to my surprise, he wasn't there.
I groaned, clearly frustrated that he wasn't anywhere to be seen. As I entered the halls of the school, Preston spotted me and made his way towards me.
Ughhh. Nooo, not today, I am so not in the mood for this.
"Whoreface, what a lovely surprise. No boyfriend today?"
I glared at him before crossing my arms. "Shut up, Preston."
He chuckled lightly before grabbing my waist and cornering me against a locker. "I guess that means it's just you and me."
I tried to shove him off, but failed miserably. Instead, I leaned towards him and pressed my lips against his ear.
"Don't you dare touch me again. You might think you're intimidating, but you're nothing. Let go of me or I'll make sure everyone sees you for the weak, pathetic, piece of trash you really are."
Dumbstruck, Preston loosened his grip. I took this opportunity to kick him in between his legs and push him off of me.
As I continued down the hallway, a few of his friends snickered. Asshole.

It was A day, which meant I had theatre first, with Reed. As I entered, I scanned the room for his familiar face, but once again, he was nowhere to me seen. I sighed heavily. Where could he be?
Grabbing my phone out of my pocket, I dialed Reed's phone number. It rang six times before sending me to voicemail. "Hey Reed. Where are you? I wanted to talk to you today." I paused before running a hand through my hair, "Just, call me when you get this."
I hung up and sat down in a random seat. His phone had battery, so that either meant he was ignoring me, or he hadn't heard his phone. Considering our circumstances, I think the first option was more probable.
The day went by so slow. At lunch I sat with a few friends from my AP World History class. Emma, (my best friend after Reed) was right beside me.
We'd met two years ago, back when we were freshman. Obviously we became best friends. Things were so much easier in 9th grade.
"So, how's it going with you and Reed?" She wiggled her eyebrows and nudged me playfully.
I forced a smile.
"It's going ok. I tried to look for him today but I couldn't find him."
Emma nodded and her face masked concern.
" That smile of yours? Not falling for it. Come on Cally, what's wrong?"
I turned towards her and sighed exasperated.
" I don't know, Em. But he's keeping something from me, and I don't like it."
Emma played with my hair. "Don't fret about it. You're his best friend. I'm sure if he knew how concerned you are, he'd tell you what he's been up to."
I let out a faint smile. "Thanks Em."

As I walked towards the Toyota, I noticed Preston eyeing me as if I were a prize.
I raised my eyebrows in confusion, but proceeded walking anyways. Just as I was about to open the car door, a hand caught me by the wrist and harshly turned me around. Preston was staring at me with a smirk less than a foot away. His eyes appeared to be filled with lust, but it couldn't be. It must've been my imagination.
I immediately pulled my hand out of his grasp and took a step backwards, bumping against my car. "I told you not to touch me", I spat.
Preston chuckled before approaching me again."Calm down, pretty face. I won't bite. I mean.. unless you want me to." Preston winked.
I scrunched up my nose. "You're disgusting."
"You're cute when you're mad", he mused. Before I could retort, Preston pushed my body harder against the car, briskly leaned forward, and smacked his rough lips onto mine.
His hands gripped my waist tightly; and a million emotions came flooding down on me. Disgust. Revulsion. Confusion. Absolute horror.
As I opened my eyes, I spotted a familiar face. Reed. And he looked utterly heartbroken. My eyes widened and I threw Preston off of me. I slapped him in disbelief. "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
I sent him a deadly glare before running after Reed. "Reed! Hold on, I can explain!"
It was no use. A blue Mustang arrived and Reed got in quickly. I arrived just in time to see him speed off with a beautiful blonde chick.
All my life, I'd wished for my dreams to come true. And now that they had, I didn't like it one bit.
