The next day I readied myself for school, and, obviously, for Reed. After I felt I looked pretty -yes, for the first time in my life- I made my way downstairs to eat something.

After I ate, I gave a quick goodbye glance to my mother and drove away, trying to avoid yesterday's conversation.

Reed, as always, was waiting for me at the school's entrance.

"Hi," I smiled.

"Hey Cally." Reed put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me in. "You look stunning," he said with a sweet smile, "As always."

I blushed at his compliment.

"Thanks," I whispered.

People at school started to notice Reed and I were closer than usual. A few girls looked at me and squealed excitedly, as if giving me their approval. Not that I needed it anyway.

In theatre, Reed sat next to me. This was one of my least favorite classes.

Not only did our teacher speak like a robot, but literally all we did was write, study, and read. No plays. No poems. No activities. Just plain, old, work.

While the teacher was speaking, Reed leaned in and said:
"I only get through this because of you."

I smiled without looking at him.
"The feelings mutual."

Reed chuckled and then clumsily searched for my hand.

My heart skipped a beat when our fingers interlocked.
