What should I do?

This changed everything. I was completely and utterly clueless.

There was no funeral.

All those times that Reed had skipped class, not answered my calls, and cancelled our dates, he had been lying. He had been doing something in secret, and obviously it was something that he didn't want me to know about.

But what could it be? And what was the real reason Caitlyn was here? Had she just been visiting? Or was she helping him out with something?

I ran some fingers through my messy hair and held back some frustrated tears. I was tired of being lied to; enough was enough. I would confront Reed once and for all, when he was least expecting it.

For now, I had to act like nothing was wrong. Everything had to go back to normal.

I took a deep breath and called Emma.

"Hey Em. I've got a little bit of a problem."

I heard Emma shuffle on the other side of the phone. "Ooohhh drama. Tell me."

I let out a frustrated groan and turned on the engine. "Stop. This isn't a joke. Reed was lying about the whole 'funeral' thing."

Em stayed silent for a moment; then proceeded to whistle. "So he like, staged the whole thing? I gotta admit, points for being able to pull that off."

"Emma!" I yelled, taking a right turn.

"You're right, I'm sorry. That was stupid of me to say. So, what's the plan?"

Pulling the car into the driveway, I parked the car and grabbed the keys. "You heard there was a party at Leah's house on Tuesday, right?"

"Oh yeah," she said, suddenly perking up. "I was gonna tell you about that, we should totally go."

I nodded and went up to my bedroom. "Yeah.
I don't want to confront him just yet. I'm kind of waiting for the right moment, if that makes any sense."

Emma scoffed and let out a sigh. "Oh, I know exactly what your talking about. So, what's up? When do we go shopping?"

I scratched my head and sat down lazily on my bed. "Shopping?"

"Yeah, you know; we have to wear a dress to the party," Emma said bluntly, "Unless you want to embarrass yourself and go in a tee and jeans."

I widened my eyes and practically jumped up from my bed. "Hey! Don't make fun of my clothes. At least they don't look like a unicorn threw up all over them."

I heard Emma gasp on the other end.

Laughing, I stood up and walked over to my mirror. "Em, I'm sorry. I was just joking," I said between giggles, "I love you."

Emma signed and let out a groan. "I love you too. But seriously, we should go out."

I grimaced. "Ok.... When do you wanna go?"

"You free right now?"

Making a face, I ran my hand down my leg. "You mean, today?"

"Yeah, why not?" Emma said, "it's only 2pm. We have time to do a lot of stuff. Besides, it's not like you have anything better to do."
