The Journal

Chapter 2

It had been three weeks since , Emilia had come to California . North California seemed to be normal now , with the bustling crowds and the long traffic jams . Californa was now Em's new home . A new place to start a life for once .
Emilia's mother , Karen , had called every week to hear about her baby girl . She texted her very day , and they both chated for long hours .
Edward and Emila were good friends , they shared each of their probelms , yes they fought but always came up with an intelligent solution to every problem .
And through it all , Merlinda watched them very closely.
    The duo added a new member to their clan two weeks later , a pretty blonde haired with a great sense of fashion. She was not only a regular customer but also a fellow classmate . Her name was Barbra who was also know as Boo.
     The following days were spent having fun , studying  (thanks to Ed) and of course working at the the restraunt  (for Emilia of course because but the other two sat there just for company) .
     On an eventful day when buisness was poor , Emilia's phone buzzed.
      Sorry , can't come today. I have to go to a salon. I just broke a nail :'(
               ~ Boo
Emilia instantly replied back
      It's okay :)
    
She walked into the kitchen , Merlinda was sitting on a rocking chair and knitting she stopped when she saw Emilia .
"Any customers ? " she asked .
"Only . Grey " Em said . They had named him Grey because he always wore a suit which was either grey or one of its shades . .
"What colour suit ?" Merlinda asked .
"Grey . Dark grey ." Em said with a giggle .
"I tell you that man has suits in all fifty shades of grey . " she said wide eyed . Showing the seriousness in her grey eyes .
Emilia laughed .
"He wants a cup of coffee . As usual ." Em said .
"Uff ! I think he fills his stomach with a cup of coffee . " she said .
Em giggled .
"Can you make the coffee youself ? I'm tired sweetie . I really need rest ." Merlinda said .
"Sure ." Em said .
      "Pass me my socks.child. I hate wearing them in the kitchen." Merlinda said as she pointed out the socks lying under a stool.
Em passed her the sock without hesitation.
"Master has given Dobby a sock . Dobby is a free elf !" Merlinda said before grabbing her bag and running off .
Em was in fits of laughter .
She prepaired the cup of coffee and served it to Grey .
Em sat on the kitchen counter , she put on her earplugs and listened to music . She listened to all kinds of songs especially Pop .
When she looked up at the clock , it was 7:00 pm . How long does a man take to drink a cup of coffee ? Just as she got up , she heard a bang .
Emilia ran to the door , there in front of her was Grey on the floor with blood flowing from his chest . A shadow ran past them outside .
Em was terrified , but she jumped into action and called the police .
"Hello ? Is this the police station"
"Yes !"
"A man has been shot and ..... and he's bleeding and ....."
"Calm down miss , where are you ?"
"I'm at Food Town . Restraunt . 12th Avenue Drewford lane . "
"Miss , we will be right there !"
"Thanks "
Em then dialled the hospital .
"Hello ? Sunshine hospital ?"
"Yes ? "
"A man has been shot on the arm . 12th Avenue Drewford lane. Food Town restraunt . "
"We will take time but we are comming miss ."
"Oh "
"Let the person breathe miss . Can take out the bullet miss ? "
"With what ?"
"With tweasers miss .Clean tweasers"
"Okay ! "
"We will reach as soon as possible miss."
Em reached for the tweasers and cleaned them with an anticeptic she carried in her handbag.
"This will hurt ."
She pulled out a blood drenched bullet . The man almost screamed in pain but held tight . He held Em's hand .
"The...death....that a...... man .....pays is.... for ....... benefit ....... Tttake.... t.t...the ...journal ...." said the man .
"The journal ?" Em asked .
"In......m...my.... suit...."
Em took out a book which looked like a diary . A4 size with a black cover . It had a wierd symbol on it . Em looked at it and then at man who had shallow breath .
"D...d...don't give ....i....i...it t.....to .......anyone" the man said
They heard sirens at the end of the street .
"Not...... even ..... the p....police . So....olve ..... it...... before ......t...t...they ...fi ......ind ........ you ." the man said .
The nurse and the doctors came in bursting through the doors .
"The patient ?" the nurse asked . Em pointed to the man , the doctors and nurses came and laid him on the stretcher .
"Are you comming miss ?" the nurse asked . Em nodded and climbed into the ambulance .
"The police ?!" Em said suddenly remembering .
"Don't worry ma'am ! We met them on the way and informed them that we would only take the patient and leave the crime scene for them to investigate ." the nurse said .
Em let out a relieved sigh , but she soon realised that , in the whole process she forgot to call , Ed , Barbera or Merlinda .
She quickly dialled Ed's number and explained the situation .
"Gosh Em ! Are you alright ?" Ed asked .
"Yes , I'm fine ."
"Which hospital are you in ?"
"Sunshine hospital , we are about to reach there "
"I'll be right there . I'll inform Barbra and Merlinda ."
"Thanks !"
"Welcome ! Bye !"
"Bye !"
The call ended . The doctors announced that the man had died . Ed arrived soon and hugged Em as soon as he arrived . Barbra and Merlinda did the same .
"Was anything left of his belonging ?" the police officer asked .
"No." Em said grimly .
"Em tell the truth was anything left of him ?" Ed asked after they left .
"Yes "
