"Everything happens for a reason"
A pair of starling grey eyes snapped open in the middle of the night. The moon was brightly shining and the stars happily twinkling . He got up from his bed , he had definietly heard a commotion on the ground floor...
Nate stared at the key which Emilia took out from her pocket , he ran his fingers around it . It was not a very complex key but a very delicately made one . If it wasn't for its importance Nate would have tested its durability . He glanced at the very end of the key , it looked very ordinary and plain . Nate turned the key's bottom leg and it moved 60° to the west and the upper leg moved 30° to the east . "Aha ! This a cabinet key !" Nate said triumphantly . "How can you say that ?" Barbra asked simply not convinced . Nate took out a similar looking key from his pocket where he hung his car keys . He took out the car keys and moved the keys bottom leg which was 20° to the west and 70° to the west . " 'Twas my mum's . I figured it out a few years ago ." Nate said with a smile playing on his lips . "So we have to break in ?" Em asked . "Yeah ...." Nate sighed . "But if the security is tight , then how do we ?" Ed asked .
"Ara give me your laptop ." Nate said . Ara reluctanty handed it to him . Nate switched it on and started working on it when he finally finished he turned it towards the others . "If you see , there is no security in the washrooms ....." Nate began . "How do we even get into the compund ?" Ara said . "I'm getting there nut , we come in as tourists . There are visiting hours so we go in that time and hide in the washrooms once the working hours are over we come out find the cabinet and look for the clue ." Nate explained . "You're a genius !" Emilia exclaimed . "Thanks !" Nate smiled . "Um , so when are we er ...." Edward began . "Tonight , we go at 7:00 . We have to solve it as soon as possible ." Nate said "So , I'll need my beauty sleep !" Ara exclaimed . She ran and plonked herself on the bed and fell asleep .
"Wow ! She needs a nobel prize for that !" Emilia exclaimed . "Yeah , you'll get used to that once you live with her ." Nate said . "What do you think we'll see there ?" Edward asked . That left them curious . * * * At six thirty in the evening the house was a uproar . Everyone was nervous . "Listen up ! In the washroom , I'll reduce the security upto 30% the maximum I can do . I'll give you guys a missed call , and you guys leave so will I . We find the cabinet and unlock the door which I hope is easy , we find the clue and get out by retracing our steps but this time we get out through the bathroom window ." Nate explained . "Okay ." "Right." "Sweet"
They decided to walk to the department on their way they met Aunty . "Hello , dears !" Aunty said . "Hi !" They choursed . "Where are you going ?" Aunty asked . "We are paying a visit to the department of mysteries ." Bera said . "Thats nice to hear ." Aunty smiled , she waved and left . Nate was nervous but he held a brave face , Bera was bitting her lips , Emilia's breathing was heavy and Edward's hands were sweaty .
The department of mysteries was a huge building with several floors the architect who built it was very skilled because it was built in a circular shape . The windows were small yet wide . The sign board was large saying The Department Of Mysteries . The visiting hours was upto 7:30 so there were very few tourists now but there were a handful . Edward and Nate walked behind Emilia and Bera and they were the last in the line . Once they saw the sign board saying washroom , giving each other a look and a thumbs up , they left . * * * Two hours had passed , Ara was almost falling asleep and Emilia was having a nervous break down each time someone entered the washroom she was very alert . The boys were nothing different Nate was having a hard time reducing the security level , the data pack was very huge to upload or to download. He was getting frustrated by the time it took him . Finally after what seemed like eternity the data pack was uploaded the security level was reduced . Nate gave each of the girls a missed call . Emilia was half asleep when her phone buzzed , it was missed call from Nate including a text saying to wait outside the washroom . Emilia shook Bera awake and they made their way outside . All of them jumped when they saw each other . "Okay , so where is the cabinet ?" Emilia asked . "Most probably on the 6th floor ." Nate answered . "How do you know ?" Bera asked . "Well , I noticed a pattern when I uploading the data pack , I noticed the pattern when scanning through the cabinets . The key they have gives away a lot of things . The degree at which the bottom leg moves goves away the floor and the degree at which the second bottom leg moves is the room number ." Nate explained . "You know what you should be a detective " Em suggested . Nate smirked and started walking towards the cabinet . As they climbed the stairs they noticed that the security level which was reduced at the moment was very high in general . As they stopped in front of the 3rd cabinet in the 6th floor , they noticed a key hole . Nate inserted the key into the hole and turned it. The door flew open , the insides were dark . Nate fumbled and found the light switch and switched on the light , the others followed him in as they closed the door softly . The room looked pretty much like a study nothing unsual of that sort . There was a huge desk with several books , on the left of it was huge shelf with several other books . To the right of the desk was a structure of a skeleton . Barbera shivered at the sight . "I hate skeletons ." Bera muttered but just enough for the others to hear . "Why ?" Emilia asked . "Skeletons are annoying they get under your skin !" Bera whisper exclaimed . The others smirked at the un intended pun , Bera had just made up . Just next to them was a an old lamp just about tall as Edward but not as tall as Nate . The lamp itself told that it was around ten or twenty years old . Now days people didn't even think of lamps when there was no electricity it was the phones they looked at . Bera tripped on the lamp's wire making not only herself but even Edward fall , on whose hand Emilia stepped which made him groan which startled her and made her jump on Nate's back who in whole process pressed another switch which made the skeleton move . But that was not what made them stare but a keypad with numbers behind it did . The keypad was small and was well hidden behind the skeleton . But what confused them the most was that it was a four digit pin .

The good news is that 'The Journal' is going on pretty well thanks to you guys . And also it may have atleast 6 more chapters The bad news is that this book may be on hold for awhile , I said Maybe .
