Chapter 21

Nate and Emilia had arrived at the hospital. They both had a worried expression , Darcy was very close to Nate . She was the only mother figure he had .
The assistant gave him the room number and they ran to it. Inside they found Mr. Samuels holding Darcy's hand and whispering kind words to soothe her .
The other parents were worriedly sitting on the left out chairs. The doctors suddenly burst into the door.
"I'm sorry , sir but only one at a time please ." The main doctor with the name Merilissa said .
Everyone moved out , leaving Mr. Samuels with Darcy . A few minutes later ha came out with a bit more of a calm expression.
"Emilia ," he said ," Darcy , is asking for you."
At first Emilia was shocked but then a light a shove from her mother made her get up. She looked at Nate who nodded, with her hands sweating and her breathing hitched she walked into the room.
"Emilia , we haven't actually met properly ." Darcy said with a light smile .
Emilia nodded and sat down on the corner of the bed wher Darcy had patted .
"I'm Darcy , Nate calls me Mum D . Bera on the other hand calls me Mummy Darce." She said
"I'm Emilia , people call me Em , Emma or Lia ." Emilia said wiping the sweat on her hands on her jeans.
"Funny things fishes are , aren't they ? They will keep licking the stone even if they know it is not food." Darcy said looking at the little aqarium where a fish was swimming.
Emilia wondered what Darcy had meant.
"Once they get the taste of the stone they move on and they come back again. They become desperate for food , so desperate that they start licking stones . Only the sensible ones stop at once ." She continued .
Emilia could not see the point to her conversation.
"Animals are innocent creatures who don't know what they are up against. I once knew an owner of a dove . He had three friends.At first the dove did not trust the master , it would peck the master whenever he came near it. The master had a close friend who too looked after the dove too. Soon it grew to love the master with its life.
One day the master found another bird that had come to the windowsill . While he was tending to it , the dove flew away and went to live with another master who had loved it ever since he set his eyes on it. The first owner to make sure the dove was safe kept the bird , the one that came on the windowsill and looked after it." Darcy said .
"Oh er its a er nice story." Emilia said .
"Dear , I know you are wise , every fairytale or story has a fact behind it. Share it with the one whom you love the most." Darcy said .
"Okay ?" Emilia said
"Now child you may go and do call Nate inside." Darcy said
Emilia walked outside and gestured Nate to go on.
He walked in sighing and Emilia sat down pondering over Darcy's words .
After what seemed like an hour Nate came out , he announced that Darcy had gone into coma.

It had all come down to this . They were sitting in court room where the Judge sat making a decision .
The lawyers has both given their points defending each of their clients. They had definietly done a good job , Emilia had to agree.
Bera then got up from her chair and walked upto the judge . Everyone sat staring at her.
"Hello , Judge Henesly . I just wanted to give you this , I don't think we'll meet later ." Bera said as she gave the astound judge a card .
A Christmas card to precise with the picture of a crib printed on it. Inside was the usual christmas message.
But on the left of the card , instead of having a christmas picture there was a picture of the US dollar.
Four words were circled on it , four words that made the judge realise his mistake. Four words that made him change his decision . Those four words made him realise that his duty lied to the society .
IN GOD WE TRUST

"The jury has come to a decision that Mr. Nathan Samuels , Miss Emilia Stewart and Mr. Edward Hunter have been proven innocent." Judge Henesly said ," Dr. Anson is thus proven guilty and is under arrest for attempting murder and also for successful ."
Emilia could not help but hug Nate while Edward and Barbera held hands with a huge grin.
"Any words from Dr. Anson ?" Henesly asked
"No but I have something to give." He said and walked up to Nate and gave him a small piece of crumpled paper and was taken away by the police.
Nate opened the piece of crimpled to find the following words written on it.
Nathan means a gift from God
He looked up to find his ... father gone out of sight but he couldn't forget what the note had said .

Emilia walked out of the church , the midnight mass had just gotten over . It was too crowded so she walked to the little garden behind the church and breathed the frsh christmas air .
"Merry Christmas , Emilia ." said a voice behind her to find Nate standing behind her . He wore a brown jacket with a deep blue shirt underneath. His hair was in a quiff , he looked much better now that he recieved the news that Darcy woke up.
"Merry Christmas , Nate." Emilia smiled as she leaned onto the bush nearby and looked at the sky.
"You know , we have legacy to continue ....." Nate said after looking the sky for a while .
He looked down at Emilia's dark brown eyes which met his deep blue ones . They leaned in and their lips met......

The silhouette of the couple was beautiful scene as the first few snowflakes landed on the ground . The mistletoe rustled and the trees swayed . The fireworks burst with delight and glowed with a message of Love .
The Burundian proverb couldn't be more correct when it said "Where there is love there is no darkness."
Everything had lit up in their lives , the universe is a myterious being that has mysterious way of working . Everything had a reason to happen .
Everytime anyone asked them how they became close ? How they learnt to turst ? How they fell in Love ?
They had just few words to say
