As I sat lazily on my bed, relaxing, my phone suddenly buzzed on my desk. Of course, I went to check it. My calander popped up on its screen, showing it was already ten in the morning, on January 16th. I had an alarm set to remind me that I'd be going with Hunter out shopping since I told him on Thursday that Charlotte called his clothes ugly. So, one thing lead to another, and he begged me to take him out shopping. I agreed reluctantly, out of annoyance. I sighed and sat back down on my bed with my phone in hand.
What was I thinking? I'm basically broke. Then, an idea hit me, and I couldn't help but smirk mischievously.
"Oh, Delilah!" My voice echoed and sang throughout the house. Moments Ayer I heard fast, small feet trampling on the creaky floorboard on the way to my bedroom door. I heard a couple quiet knocks on my door, followed by a small, squeaky voice.
"Hello!" Her voice rang, enthusiastic and excited as always.
"Come in!" I demanded. The door slowly opened ajar and in crept Delilah, her little pigtails bobbing.
"Now, shut the door." I ordered. She did as I asked. She then waddled her way towards me and tried to climb to the top of my bed, helplessly trying to jump on top. I bent down to her and pulled her into my lap.
"Now, Delilah, do Skye a favor and get me about oh I don't know... Two hundred dollars from mom?" I grinned down devilishly at the confused child. It seemed to take a few seconds for her brain to register, but her face soon lit up.
"Okay!" She beamed with one of her big smiles, showing off her two lost front teeth. She then jumped off my lap and ran to the door, exiting. I listened to her running down the stairs and scooted myself next to the door. I opened it a small crack and put my ear to it.
"Mommy, Skye wants money." She said, her voice small.
"Oh no." I heard my mom grumble.
"How much?"
"This many!" I heard Delilah say joyfully. I could imagine her trying to make the numbers out on her fingers.
"Two hundred!? Oh lord. No way." My mom refused and I frowned at her words.
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?" Delilah stretched out the word and slightly mispronounced it. I then heard my mom sigh heavily and I heard her going through her purse, the sound of keys and coins jingling echoed in my ears and I couldn't help but smile. Yes!
I sat on a bench outside the mall's entrance, waiting for Hunter and praying he didn't forget about our plan to meet up. God, where is that guy!? Moments later, I see a tall guy speeding towards me, his legs moving so fast it looked painful. Oh. It was Hunter. Oh no. He's thirteen minutes late. Once the latecomers reached me, he fell to his knees, gasping for air. I crossed my legs and glared at him.
"Can you stop being so late?" I sighed.
"I forgot─ Again." He struggled for air. I gritted my teeth when I saw what was wearing. Or rather, not wearing.
"Don't tell me..." I mumbled, disappointed
"I forgot my coat." He said bluntly.
"Again? What's with you?" I rolled my eyes and stood to my feet.
"Get up, dummy. You look like a drunk buffoon." I commented, walking to the mall's entrance.
Hunter caught up to me and we began our mission to find him attractive clothes. Attractive to Charlotte, that is.
"What are you even wearing?" I widened my eyes at him. He wore a plain navy blue shirt, typical jeans, and his navy converse.
"I don't know." He shrugged my disgust off.
