It was Monday and that made me want to cry. But, it was the day I decided to confess to Antonio. I rolled out of my bed and grabbed my typical clothes. I recited my plan of words over and over in my head as I brushed my teeth.
"Antonio. I've known you for an entire five years. Of course, we were just friends. But... Now I want to be something more. I don't know when, but I fell for you. And trust me, I fell hard. I really like you yet I know you don't feel the same... But can you give me a chance?" I said, directing my attention to the mirror. My black hair was messy as always. My bright, large emerald green eyes had massive purple bags under them. Probably because I woke up at three in the morning, thought of my words for Antonio, and went back to sleep at four. It was then only seven in the morning, and I felt a little tired.
I walked to school dressed in my penguin coat and black scarf. Charlotte, looking beautiful as always, walked by my side when my phone suddenly buzzed in my pocket. I stopped walking and slipped it out from my pocket. One message. I opened my messages to see a text from Hunter.
"Is today the day?" It read.
"Yeah. It is." I responded.
Charlotte attempted to peer over my shoulder but I edged away before she could see anything.
"Who was that?" She asked.
"It was just... My dad." I said, looking away. Charlotte always knew when I was lying.
"Oh, okay." She said as we turned to the block of our school. I was quite surprised she couldn't tell that was an obvious lie.
"Everlenia Private High School." Charlotte sighed the name of our school. I couldn't help but sigh myself.
A few hours later I sat at our newly typical lunch table. Antonio, Charlotte, Hunter and I sat in our usual spots. I felt a little bit more confident with myself when it came to talking to Antonio. We three chatted, laughed, and all that... Except for Hunter. He kept eyeing Antonio and me nervously the entire time when he suddenly called me out in the middle of a conversation.
"And so then I was like─"
"Skye. Can you come with me for a sec?" Hunter suddenly asked, interrupting Charlotte's story. I furrowed my eyebrows at him.
"For what?" I asked.
"Just shut up and come here!" He said rather harshly. Is he really going to talk like that in front of Charlotte!? I exchanged a glance with Charlotte before reacting.
"O─ Okay..." I hesitantly stood from my seat and followed Hunter to the back of the class, where the quiet kids usually sat.
"Charlotte doesn't like it when you're rude to me so you better─"
"I don't care. Listen to me. I have a bad feeling about you confessing." He said, interrupting my urged whisper. As we talked he leaned in to me so no one else could hear. I looked at him, still furrowing my eyebrows with an expression that cried 'what'.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"...It just doesn't feel right... I don't know! Something keeps bothering me about the way you keep looking at him and the way you talk about him!" He admitted. I stared at him, astonished. I didn't speak for about ten seconds.
"...You're jealous, aren't you?" I muttered. Hunter's eyes widened and he averted his gaze.
"N─ No. I'm not..." His voice grew small and his cheeks grew pink.
"I have Charlotte. I don't need you." He said finally. I felt something in my heart shatter. I stared down intensely at my feet, my hair covering any view of my face. He stood back up straight and walked away as if nothing ever happened. My mind was scrambled and messed up. I stood in place for a good few minutes until I felt a tap on my shoulder. I spun around to see my prince charming.
