The cold air wrapped around me as I sat on the swing of my neighborhood's park. I looked up at the gloomy sky as I noticed snowflakes beginning to fall. Memories of Charlotte and I playing in the same park clouded my head. And one by one, they played.
"Ow!" I cried as I hit the ground. I stared up at the swing, still creaking back and forth. I felt small wood chips against my back.
"Skye! Did you fall again?" My mom sighed, sitting on the bench across from us.
"Skye! Don't die on me!" Charlotte kneeled down next to me and began crying. She was always the sensitive one. I began laughing as Charlotte's tears rolled down her cheeks. She was always overreacting.
"Skye!" A voice came from behind me, catching me off guard.
"Huh?" I peered over my shoulder to lock eyes with Hunter, who was staring at me.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing. Why?" I furrowed my eyebrows at his question.
"I called your name two or three times but you were out of it. You were staring up at the sky with a smile on your face. You seemed real distant. Is something wrong?" He actually seemed a little concerned and I felt quite thankful. I blinked up at him as my brain processed his words. I then smiled and softly shook my head. Then it hit me that I agreed to meet him at the park the night before and I felt a bit stupid. Suddenly I felt hands on my back, and the next thing I knew I was being pushed into the air.
"H-Hunter!" I cried, not expecting the motion since I was caught off-guard once again. I heard Hunter's soft chuckle from behind as I swung back to him. He pushed me again and seconds later my face was planted into the snowed-on wood chips of the playground.
"Oops." Hunter's voice was followed by his sudden burst of laughter.
"Hahaha, very funny." I grumbled, getting to my feet and slapping the wood chips off my coat.
We both decided to go over to his house, which was actually only a few blocks away from mine and Charlotte's.
"No one's home, so do whatever." He shrugged. He immediately ran to a small room. I followed him, and realized it was the living room. He plopped himself onto the couch which was across from a flat screen T.V on the pale white wall. I threw my boots off and dropped my coat in the hallway, leaving it to go sit on the couch.
"So what was the plan for today?" He asked, slumping his shoulder comfortably.
"Well, I thought it was to tell each other what men or women like that women or men do." I said, thinking back.
"Oh, okay... Well, you start. Tell me what girls like." Hunter said, turning his body to me. He sat there, looking down at me, waiting for me to begin.
"W-Well..." My mind raced and I felt a bit shy from the attention that was on me. I averted my gaze to the floor and avoided his eyes.
"We don't have all day." He sighed. Is he always so impatient!?
"Okay, okay. Let's begin with how you talk and how you carry yourself. Don't use too many bad words near Charlotte, she's not a big fan of them. Always have your back straight and look confident! Girls love confidence! Then there's..." My words already dragged him in and he was immediately taking mental notes.
"Charlotte is really sensitive too, so don't be rude! Oh, and she loves hugs. She's not much into kissing. She doesn't like being called 'babe' or 'baby girl' or anything like that. In fact, she hates nicknames!" I knew Charlotte too well I didn't even have to think about what to say. The words just kept going.
