I couldn't bare to talk to them. I couldn't bare to see them. I didn't want to. Not any of them. Not Antonio, not Hunter, not even my own childhood friend Charlotte. I was sick of them all. Antonio turned out to be an asshole, I was jealous of Charlotte, and Hunter, well... He just made me sick.
I purposely got ready late to avoid Charlotte on my way to school. The air was almost deadly cold, or so it felt. My skin was pale and covered by goosebumps. My lips were chapped, my mouth dry. Everything was just one big mess.
"You're late, Skye." Mr. Harrison said in a stern voice as I stepped into the classroom. I ignored him and walked straight to my seat. On my way, I glanced at Charlotte. She looked confused as she looked back at me. I took a look at Antonio, who was completely ignoring the fact I was in the room. I got to my seat and stared out the window. It was snowing again. I breathed on the glass and found the place I drew a heart. I then drew through it with my pointer finger.
"Skye! Don't think you can come unfunny class late and not pay attention!" Mr. Harrison yelled at me. All eyes in the room were on me. I stared glared at Mr. Harrison and forced myself to listen.
During lunch I sat alone in my corner in the back when Charlotte approached me.
"Skye." She stood next to my desk. I looked up at her.
"Oh my god... You look like you haven't slept in days. You look like a wreck! What's wrong?" She asked. I gritted my teeth, but my lip, and turned away.
"Skye? Really, what's wro─"
"Shut up and leave me alone, you spoiled brat. You're too stupid to know when a guy likes you." I mumbled just loud enough for her to hear. I didn't turn to look at her but I waited for her to leave. She didn't. Next thing I knew, she grabbed my wrist and pulled me from my seat.
"Wha─" I gasped and she dragged me back to Antonio and Hunter. She forced me to sit with the three of them.
"Oh, I gotta go." Antonio said, standing up and taking his leave. I narrowed my eyes at him as I watched him go walk over to Estella, the other attractive girl of our class.
"Oh ew! There's gum on my seat!" Charlotte sighed and decided to take Antonio's spot, next to Hunter.
They began talking. It seemed endless. Although something seemed off about Hunter. He was distant to her and when she'd tell him something he wouldn't seem to hear. His mind was somewhere else. He kept glancing at me for a few brief seconds. He didn't seem happy. Charlotte just kept rambling though.
For days it was like this. Almost a week had past and nothing changed. Until Friday. I received a text from Hunter late at night. I sat on my bed and read it, my heart pounding. I didn't want to talk to him, but I had to respond or things would get bad.
"...Hey." It read.
"..." I sent. I didn't even feel like typing a simple greeting to him.
"Listen, please meet me at the Café tomorrow. Don't ask. Just come at noon." He replied.
"K" I texted.
At that time I felt negevtive feelengs towards Charlotte, Antonio, and Hunter. All of them. But, I didn't want to turn Hunter down. I fell asleep that night wondering what he wanted. I had no idea, but I didn't want it to go badly. Everything was already so twisted and bitter. He probably just wants to kiss me again. I'll kill him if he does. He's a waste of time anyways.
