I awoke, dazed and confused, memories of the night before rushing through my head. I didn't remember much, only Ashton's soft eyes and kindness. Why was he even out at four in the morning? He seems to be up late every night, but is there a reason? It didn't make any sense, but I shrugged it off and sat up.
I grabbed my phone, finding a message from Michael.
Michael🙃- huh??
Checking my text messages, I found a text that I had totally forgotten when I sent. I was really out of it...
Me- I don't know I don't even remember what happened. I just remember I was asleep in the hall and Ashton did something to help me? I don't even know what lol. I'm tired.
Michael🙃- he's totally in love with you
Me- Suree. Dammit Mikey you're always on your phone.
Michael🙃- lol ik. im in class and i have nothing to do
Me- Umm, here's a suggestion: listen?
Michael🙃- what's the fun in that? I record the lectures and listen to them to fall asleep.
Me- That's not smart.
Michael🙃- fun fact, your brain can listen just the same when you're asleep
Me- Trust me Mikey, I'm majoring in psych. You don't retain it the same way. You do a bit but not all of it.
Michael🙃- idc. i do fine in my classes.
Me- Whatever loser
Michael🙃- umm eXCUSE ME?
I chuckled, setting my phone down and crawling out of bed. Deciding it was a sweatpants day, I pulled my fuzzy sweatpants out of my drawer and put them on. I used to be obsessed with how I presented myself and what people thought of me, but now I've become obsessed with sleep and feeling comfortable.
I checked the time and headed out to go to class, in which I would see a good friend of mine, Gigi. Gigi and I had been friends since grade 6, and our friendship remained. She was so short and had blonde hair, half of it shaved. We made a friend group out of another friend, Courtney, Gigi and I. When we were in high school, we never failed to be together. Courtney was always blunt and down to earth while Gigi and I had our heads in the clouds. We always knew Courtney was right, but refused to accept it half the time. Courtney had moved all the way to LA to escape her childhood, as she said she needed something new. She visited about twice a year, but I was happy that she was happy. She was a pretty inspirational character in my life because of her silent brilliance. Every guy on the planet seemed to praise her, and I was blessed to be her friend and actually know her for more than her body.
Gigi was the crazy little one. She hadn't even grown above five feet yet, and we would always make fun of her for her height. She was always goofy though and got along with practically everyone. She used to do crazy stuff like impulsively dye her entire head of hair, learn a series of different instruments, do terrible in certain classes, and much more all for the sake of her reputation. Thankfully, Courtney and I got her back down to earth. I mean, punk rock Gigi is rad as hell, but the rest of it didn't really work well and was ruining her future. Now I go to the main school in Sydney with her, and we are still really good friends. Not as close as we used to be, but we could still go to each other with anything.
I drove to the Italian restaurant in which Gigi and I would meet. Sure enough, her black car was already in the parking lot as I arrived. I got out of my car as she did and we hugged quickly before walking inside.
