"Hedgehogs don't eat cat food." Ashton insisted for the seventh time in a matter of minutes.
"I promise you, they do. Would you just look it up?" I sighed in frustration.
"I swear to god." Ashton groaned, pulling his phone out of his pocket as we stood in front of the cat food. I stood, my arms crossed, as he typed the words into his search. Within a minute, he sighed. "Whatever. Maybe they do eat cat food."
"I told you!" I chuckled, glad that I was right. I picked up the bag of food and placed it into the shopping cart. "I'm always right."
"Yeah, sure." He rolled his eyes as I began to push the shopping cart out of the aisle.
"Admit it." I smirked, pushing the cart towards the back of the store to look for anything else that I may need.
"Never." His eyes darkened as mine met his.
"Mhm."
"Hey look, this looks useful." Ashton grabbed my hand and pulled me into a random aisle of... Beta fish?
I looked at him, a confused expression written across my face when he suddenly wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me roughly. I quickly shut my eyes and let it happen, just like I had three times before. After only a few seconds, he pulled back abruptly, catching me by surprise. He gave me a small smirk before walking back out of the aisle and back to our shopping cart.
What the fuck?
I rolled my eyes and followed him out of the aisle. We bought only a few more things before going to the check out area, which was completely empty because nobody goes to a pet store at one in the morning besides Ashton. The girl behind the counter seemed as if she were about to pass out. I felt bad for her, but gave her a soft, awkward smile as I payed for the items. Within minutes, we had loaded the car and were sitting back in the front.
"What now?" He asked.
"How about go home and sleep?" I mumbled, rubbing my eyes as they begged to close.
"Nah." Ashton scrunched up his nose slightly, immediately sending a rush of annoyance through my bloodstream.
"Ashton, it's one in the morning. I need to sleep." I reasoned.
"Nahh." He repeated, a bit longer this time.
"Ashton, take me the fuck home." I snapped. Why did I even trust him to drive?
"I want to show you something first." Though it was dark, I could see a small, peaceful smile spread across his face, making me hold myself back from smiling as well.
"What?"
"Come on, I know you'll love it. Can I show you?"
I paused for a moment. "It better be quick. Nights are for sleeping, not adventures."
"Who ever said that nights were for sleeping?"
"Physics." I rolled my eyes as he backed out of the parking spot in the abandoned, lonely parking lot.
"Adventures are meant for any time." He stated casually. I didn't want to look at him, because I didn't want to start grinning like an idiot again. His smile is just too contagious. "Not just the daytime."
"Well, it's still-" I gasped, stopping my sentence and staring at the area that the movement had just come from. My heart began to race.
"What?"
"I think there is a- Oh my god!" I exclaimed, scotching closer to the window as if it would get me farther away from it as it moved again. "It's a bug!"
