Brothers Best Friend

First Day of School

My alarm won't shut up and I really don't want to go to school. Don't get me wrong, I'm a total nerd and I love getting straight A's but I don't like school. I'm also nervous about how the whole Ryder thing is going to work. I don't know how we're supposed to act towards each other especially if we have the same classes. The worst part is Matt is going to be in our classes. The only class we didn't get together was music because Matt is more into art but besides that everything is the same. I got ready quickly. I put on some dark blue skinny jeans and a black zip up hoodie with a white tank top. The last thing I put on were my Docs. I didn't feel like wearing makeup today so I skipped that and I left my messy curly hair down. My mom would hate when I did that. Saying that it was unprofessional and that my hair was so unruly. I started thinking about her and was snapped out of my daze by Matt calling me.
"J  you ready to go?"
"Yeah I'll be down in a minute"
"Hurry Ryder's in his car already"
"Shotgun!"
"Oh Come on"
"Sorry Matty rules are rules"
I got in the front seat and made fun of Matt for being in the backseat
"Hey Babe"
OMG Ryder looked so good. His hair was messy and I just wanted to run my hands through it. He was wearing a plain grey shirt with a black leather jacket and some dark blue jeans and his boots. Let me just tell you if my brother wasn't here so many things would be happening. He leaned closer and for a second I wondered what he was doing
"Babe you're staring" he whispered to me
I immediately blushed and looked down feeling embarrassed 
"Sorry"
"You don't have to apologize I like it, it's just that your brother is right there and he's stupid but he's not that stupid"
"Who's stupid?" Said Matt
"You"
"Haha very funny lets just get going. I don't know why you get to go in the front seat I'm his best friend"
"Yeah well I'm his...G"
I shut my mouth before I said what I was about to say. I can't believe I almost said that aloud; I really need to work on keeping things to myself. Ryder literally went pale and couldn't say anything.
"You're his what?"
"I'm his great friend"
"J that doesn't even make sense"
"It does too. Let's just go"
With that we left and arrived at school. We went to our lockers, got our books, and headed to class. It was English which I was happy about cause I loved English. Matt on the other hand was better at Math which I totally sucked at.
We got into our seats. Matt was in the second row in the first seat, then Ryder was next to him, and I was next to Ryder.
A couple of classes passed by and it was time for lunch. I met up with my friend Carlie and Ryder and Matt went with their friends.
"Hey Jamie how was your break?"
"It was amazing how about your's?"
"It was good. I mostly just relaxed"
"That's good"
I was now looking at Ryder at his table and he looked up and smiled at me. Seconds later I got a text
R: Hi beautiful, I miss you :)
J: Ryder you're literally like 10 feet away from me
R: yeah but I can't even properly talk to you
J: Come over later. Matts going to be at some Sport Club thing
R: He wanted me to go with him though
J: Just tell him you don't want to join. That way we at least get some alone time once a week. Please
R: Fine I'll see what happens later
J: K Bye for now XOXOX
R: Bye Babe ;)
"Jamie, Hellooo"
Oh shit I forgot I was having a conversation with Carlie.
"Sorry Carlie what were you saying?"
"I was asking why you were all smiley"
Should I tell her? But what if she tells someone else. No I can't risk it. She's my friend but she has a big mouth.
"Oh no reason I just saw a funny post online"
"Oh let me see"
"Umm"
And in that moment the bell rang and I was so relieved because I had nothing to show her.
"Guess you'll just have to show me next time"
"Yeah, I'll see you later"
I was about to head out but I heard Ryder call me.
"Hey Babe Wait up!"
He came running and Matt was right behind him. As he walked up he put his arm around me and I internally freaked out a little. What if Matt thought it was weird? Why was Ryder doing this? It was too risky.
"Hi" was all I could say back because I didn't want him to remove his arm but I also felt like Matt would say something
"Dude get your arm off my sister it's weird. People are going to think you're a couple."
Ryder instantly removed his arm but he didn't keep his mouth shut
"Relax Matt it's not a big deal"
"Just don't touch my sister, she's innocent unlike you. She doesn't need you ruining her image. That's why she doesn't date"
"Matty shut up the only reason I haven't had a boyfriend is because you scare them off"
Oh if he knew I was with Ryder he would freak out. I thought telling him soon would be a good idea but now I'm not so sure.
"Yeah well you're too young to have a boyfriend"
"Whatever I'm not fighting with you on this I'm going to class. You coming Ryder"
"Yeah I'll be right there Babe. I just need to talk with Matt about something"
"I'll just wait for you then"
"K"
I waited by the lockers. I wasn't too worried about being late our music class was right in front of us. I tried listening to what they were saying without seeming nosey.
"What's up?"
"I don't really want to join that sports club"
"Oh come on man I've been telling you about it since summer break"
"Yeah I know but you know that I'm into music not sports. It's always been that way Matt"
"Yeah I know. Alright I mean I can't make you go, so if you don't want to join that's fine but I'm staying until 5:30"
"Alright I'll come pick you up just text me when its time."
"Yeah I will. Oh and obviously take Jamie with you"
" Of course I'll see you later the bells going to ring in like
30 seconds"
"Alright Bye"
Ryder finally joined me and we walked into class just on time. We only had 4 classes a day so this one was our last one and it made me so happy that it was Music. I was also very happy that I was going to finally get to be completely alone with Ryder without any worries. My parents were never home and Matt was staying at school for a while which was cool. After today I'm not so sure that it's the right time to tell Matt about Ryder and me. Hopefully when we do tell him he won't be too mad but we'll just have to wait and see.
