"What the hell are you talking about now?" I asked confused.
"It's about you and Darren" Damien announce cheerily.
"Can everyone just stop messing with my relationship with Darren!" I yelled truly angry with everyone in the world.
"It seems Darren has ended your relationship with him" Damien retorted with a smirk.
"WHAT!" my eyes shot wide open in total surprise. I could feel my heart shattering into a million pieces.
"He disowned you Candice. Disowned you as his family, his heir, and his mate"
"He wouldn't" never in my life had I sounded so broken than in this moment. My body momentarily shook as I realized this was how abandonment felt. My blood feeling like fire throughout my body.
Damien pulled out a piece of paper from his chest pocket in his jacket. He laid the paper in my hands.
"It's his blood written in the form of his signature on this contract, is it not?" He asked.
I sniffed the paper, inhaling Darren's familiar scent. It was definitely his blood. I pressed the signature closer to my nose, and let a wave of sorrow consume me.
How dare he! How dare he let me go without a fight. How dare he lie to me that he loved me. How dare he say he was my mate. How dare he say he would die if I ever left him. HOW DARE HE!
I skimmed the paper and read exactly what this contract was about.
Written in script in black ink:
I, Darren Dusk, release my progeny and mate, Candice Carlson, to Damien Dusk. I understand I am in no position to contact Candice no longer, and hereby swear to never have contact with my former progeny. I also pledge that I was not forced into signing and therefore all ties with Candice Carlson are loose, from now on.
