Candice POV:

"His mercy punishments?" I repeated in horror.

That side of Damien, sounded sick, demented and tormenting. How malicious could he be? How much of his personality could he be hiding from me? All I had seen so far was the broken little boy who needed his heart to be mended with love.

A sound of soft foot steps had captured my attention, snapping my head to the figure approaching us.

"Did someone say my name?" Damien casually asked. Surprisingly his aroma was dark, leaving the atmosphere around us unsettling. It was something that scared me unconsciously.

How could he possibly be up and awake if he was sleeping when I left him. Unless... he wasn't really sleeping... but why would he pretend?

"We've captured an intruder" the head of guards informed. And I looked to see every vampire guard gripping onto the necks of Oliver's companions, including Oliver now.

My protective instincts kicked in, because I somehow knew I wasn't gonna like the aftermath of the situation.

"HE WASN'T INTRUDING!!!" I shouted in protest. Maybe if I talked, Damien would listen to me because maybe he really was a nice person with a soft spot for me.

At the corner of my eyes, I even caught Oliver raising his brows in confusion.

"Tell me, Sweet Pea, what exactly is Oliver doing here then", Damien was really going to let me speak my side of the story and listen. I knew he wasn't all bad.

"I'm sure Oliver has a reasonable explanation as to why he's here. Right Oliver?" I motioned for him to speak.

"Well, when I say my explaination out loud, it doesn't sound very intelligent" Oliver stated cheeky with a forced smile.

I snapped at his poor attempt at saving his own life. "I'm giving you a chance to defend your crime and that's what you have to say for yourself?!"

"What am I suppose to say, Candice? That I came here to protect you from the man who stole you from your kidnapper? To protect you from the man who you think he is? To protect you from his vile blood running through your veins? In my eyes I didn't commit any crime. He did!" he spat in response.

"Wait. What are you talking about? How is his blood running through my veins?" I pressed on in confusion.

"Well, I think he had enough chances to defend his stand on the situation" Damien interrupted our mini heated dispute. "Bring him to the delinquent chambers"

"Wait no!" I lunged onto the guard's grasp on Oliver's wrists. I wanted to know exactly what Oliver was hinting at, that I was obviously blind to. But Damien made it impossible as I was pulled back from interfering with the shackling process.

"Get off me Damien!" I hissed and wriggled in Damien's grasp, but it was no use. I witnessed Oliver's determined and look of anger as he noticed Damien's unwanted hold on me, but was pushed through doors by the guard to a foreign place, where we were no longer allowed to communicate.

Damien had let me go as soon as Oliver was out of view. And I used that as my chance to run after Oliver. But to my disappointment, the doors were bolted closed from the other side of the door. I felt defeated.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!" I had turned vexed at Damien as I lashed out at him.

"I didn't do anything wrong" Damien defended emotionless.

"What are you going to do to him?" I demanded to know.

"I think not telling you will put your mind at ease" he advised.

"That makes it worse, if you don't tell me!" I argued and followed after him as he turned around and walked away from me.

"I still say otherwise" he retorted as his final decision, ending the topic.

"Fine! Tell me about the blood coursing through my veins then!" I demanded, determined to get some answers today.

"It's yours of course" he answered lamely.

"I don't believe you" I challenged as I narrowed my eyes at him.

"I need you too much to let you go" was all he said before he used his inhuman speed to distant himself from me.

^_^_^_^_^_^

It's a week I'm cooped up in Damien's home, and I'm close to going mad.

Damien has ignored me almost all the time like I'm the plague, all except at breakfast or dinner. Where he stays silent and observes all and any of my movements like a prey ready to pounce without mercy, but holds back. There's something off and edgy about him. Something that makes his aroma around him dark. Like he's got a secret he's keeping from me. I ask him for answers but he silently declines to answer anything at all involving Oliver. If I pressure him more than he can stand, he usually ends up leaving the table. I'd end up chasing him until he slams a door locked at my face.

When I'm about to take my hours of needed sleep I can hear grunts of men. Damien must have more than one prisoner down there. I tried to go down there, to see what was there for myself, but apparently there's this really mean guard who won't let me past him. Doesn't matter if I'm a guest of Damien's.

The odd thing is I know what Oliver's voice sounds like. But this other man's loud grunting that I can hear is familiar to me. Every time I hear it, it makes my heart drop and break a little when I hear the painful grunt, as a reply to whatever they are doing to the man.

It was emotionally and mentally killing me not to know what was down there. I was more than halfway convinced Damien definitely had a dark and abusing side to him. I blamed it on his parents and Darren for not being there for him when he needed it the most.

Sadly.

What's even more twisted was...

I still cared about Damien.

Even if he was a sick-sinister-broken-boy-vampire.
