The wind blew in her hair like a dandelion did on a summer day. The sunset just as beautiful as ever. She knew she had to get home soon but she wanted to stay for just one more minute. Just gaze at the sun as the darkness arrived and came over her. "The demons inside are never satisfied..." She says as she watches the sun finally fade away from her and down below the edge of the earth. Her hands in her cutoff jean pockets and her head down to watch where she was going. She gradually made her way back into town, never looking up and never looking back. "Katherine!" In the distance someone yelled her name. She looked ahead to see it was Luke. Not nerdy, glasses Luke but smoking hot wanna be boyfriend Luke. "Hey Luke." She said as she walked right past him accidentally letting her shoulder hit his. "Hey! What was that for?" He said as he spun around and ran to catch up with her. He punched her in the arm slightly and when she looked up to glare at him he was smiling at her. Why is his smile so, so cute. She couldn't help but smile back. "Where you headed?" He asked looking at her quizzically. "I don't know yet, I don't want to go home and miss out on an adventure." His smile got even wider then. "I know the perfect place for an adventure, come on follow me." He said grabbing her arm and leading her wherever his adventure laid. They ran across town, and through the farmers field to where the old water tower sat. Crooked as ever but it sat there. "After 20 years this water tower is still here. Can you believe it?" He asked her looking back to see if she was going to answer. But she ran past him towards the old rickety ladder. "What are you doing!" He yelled at her. "I'm going on, an adventure..." She said as she continued to climb the ladder to the very top. "Come on Luke, don't be scared." She said as she continued to climb up to where she could see the stars perfectly. He looked at her as if she was the craziest person in the world but strangely he liked how she was the craziest. He reached the top and saw her looking at the stars from laying down. "They are beautiful... Have you ever thought of what it would be like to go up there?" She asked Luke as he got settled beside her. "I imagine it would be different, it would be free and relaxing. I imagine that you would love it. Because it seems like it's the place you should be." He said as he looked at her and saw her eyes light up with joy. "The stars, people say, are loved ones that have passed away. I wonder if my mom is up there... You think she is Luke?" She gazed at the stars and then looked to Luke for a reply. "I think that she is up there somewhere Katherine, and she's watching every move you make. I think she would be so proud of everything you have become." He said to her as he moved closer. Her face swelled with fear and she quickly sat up and scooted away. "Are you trying to make a move on me Luke Elliot Sky?" She said with one eyebrow up and a smile on her face. He looked at her like it was a difficult question. Confused on what to do he spoke the truth, "I was. Now I'm not." He said as he chuckled it off and acted like it didn't affect him. "We should get back anyways, my step mom is going to shoot me for being late." She said as she stood on the water tower, taking one last look at the view and taking one last deep breath of the fresh air. Her arms open, her mind free. She didn't want to go back home, unfortunately she didn't have the choice yet.
