My name is Sarah Macklin I am 18 years old and i live in vault 113, the government created hundreds of prewar vaults created to shield its inhabitants from the world outside. The vault had a capacity of 100 people per vault but they are divided into quarters and can last indefinitely all four quarters are governed by an overseer which is the one that holds our government together. I am in love with his daughter which yes makes me a lesbian so before you over react I realize that two females can't create a child but the heart wants what the heart wants, her name is Samantha and she too is 18. I don't know if Sam is a lesbian but I do know the boys hit on her and she blows them off, so I think my chance are fifty-fifty which I figure are good enough. People in the vault attend classes in the school room until the age of 16 years old then they are assigned jobs maintaining the vault my job is helping feed the vault inhabitants I cook the breakfast as well as wash dishes after in my quarter with the help of my friend Cassy our quarter consists of around 25 people.
One morning Cassy and I were making breakfast for everyone when Sam caught my eye as usual but I caught her checking me out, she saw me notice and she smiled nervously and I got a little wet so I asked Cassy if she could take over a moment she nodded and I went to talk to Sam. When I got to Sam she smiled and looked nervous like she had an apology memorized I opened my mouth to speak but words didn't come out instead her tongue went in. I didn't expect that she was kissing me passionately I was confused but I went with the flow and closed my eyes and kissed back,
A week went by since Sam and I kissed and neither of us has said a word to the other I however heard all the buzz from Cassy rumors and gossip, but it barley made it through my thick skull every time she brought Sam up I zoned out to my happy place and of course Sam was there usually naked. Cassy was kept urging me to talk to Sam but I change the subject each time but fate doesn't like being ignored as it is I had to see Sam almost every day at breakfast and clean up. One morning while Cassy and I were making breakfast Sam walked in I told her the food would be done soon but she said she didn't come for the food she came to see me she looked panicked I asked what was wrong, she said my father left the vault and that my mother just died.
