I make it until the next day, barely. I've avoided all the calls and texts from Niall and Louis with all of their excuses.
I'll admit it, and wasn't expecting our relationship to last after Niall's career took off, I mean come on, I had to be realistic. Did I really think he'd stay with a dork like me?
I had unrealistic outlooks on life. I mean here I was going after Harry, the jock in school, and when I couldn't get him, I went for Niall, a celebrity. Well, he wasn't a celebrity when I met him, but he was extremely popular. I was lucky that one time and the dork actually got the jock, almost like the movies, but reality was bound to set in sooner or later.
I make it through all of my classes until lunch. I look around for Cassidy, but I can't seem to find her. As if on cue, my phone buzzes and I see a text from Cassidy.
Sorry, won't be at school today I'm going out of town with my family, I'll be out for the rest of the week. I would have told you, but it was kinda an impromptu thing. Thx ;) xoxo cass.
Great, I think to myself. After I get into a major fight with my celebrity boyfriend and best friend of over a decade, my only other friend goes out of town for the week.
I suddenly realize how weird my situation sounds, I really need to get my life together.
I scan the cafeteria for a familiar face, but I find none. This is my third year at this school and my group of friends consists of three people, and if you count Niall and Louis on probation, I only have Cassidy.
I realize that I have no one to sit with. I consider forgiving Niall and Louis just so I have someone to sit with, but I can't even seem to find their faces.
Finally, my eyes rest on one familiar face.
Harry.
I know things were awkward the last time we talked, but he seemed cool with the conversation.
I walk over and notice that he's not alone, -er he is, but he's not.
That's confusing I know. He's alone, but it appears that he was eating with someone. There's a purse hanging on the side of the chair next to him and a plate of half eaten food on the table, but the chair was empty. He must be eating with someone, but they got up to go to the bathroom or something.
I make my way to the table, and suddenly stop. IT'S THE GIRL!! I gasp, as the pieces of the puzzle finally fit together. He's sitting with the girl that he told me about.
All of a sudden I felt as though my blood was lead. I honestly don't know why I felt like this.
Ok, fine, I did. So I like him, so I still have feelings for him, so what? Nothing can happen. I love Niall, I really do. I love him with all my heart, but I still had feelings for Harry. I don't even know where these feelings come from, I just know I have them.
I don't how it happened but a second later I find myself at the table Harry and his mystery girl are seated at.
Harry looks up at me and smiles. That smile, oh my goodness, that smile.
"Hey Kimberly," Harry says, coolly.
"Hi," I say, quietly. I shyly pull the seat across from Harry out. I do it slowly, expecting him to object so he can have lunch with the mystery girl alone, but he never does.
"So, is this the girl you were talking about yesterday," I ask, gesturing to the plate of food next to him.
"Yeah, you're gonna love her," he replies.
I highly doubt that, I say to myself.
"There she is now!" Harry says, nodding over to the pale blonde walking over to our table.
She had shoulder length wavy blonde hair, and light blue eyes. And there was something else about her, the reminded me of someon-
Beverly!
No! Are you kidding me! Beverly? Could anything go more wrong?
She sits down next to Harry.
"Kimberly, this is Beverly Motts, she's the girl I was talking about yesterday," he says and gives her a small smile.
"Kimberly, yea we have Trig together," Beverly responds, returning Harry's smile.
"Oh! You guys already met? That's great!" Harry exclaims.
"Great!" I say sarcastically.
They don't notice.
"So Beverly, your last name is Motts?" I ask.
She nods with a smile.
"So like the applesauce?" I ask.
"Yes!" she says with a laugh, "I get all the time!"
I smile a fake smile " I never liked applesauce," I mutter.
She stops laughing, and she and Harry kinda give me a look.
Normally, I would shift uncomfortably, but I jut shrugged and shoveled another spoonful of mashed potatoes in my mouth.
"Well, I've always loved applesauce," Harry, says to Beverly.
"Really?" she asks with a small smile.
"Yeah, I used to eat it all the time was I was little," he said.
I rolled my eyes. Come on Harry, you can do so much better than talk to a girl about your love of applesauce.
I sat through lunch uncomfortably. I never knew where to look, it seems awkward looking in front of me where two people continuously and obviously flirted.
When the lunch bell finally rang, I jumped up from the table and headed for the trash can.
I threw my trash away and headed for my next class. I had never looked this forward to my History class in my life.
I'm walking down the hall when my phone buzzes.
It's Niall again, I roll my eyes. I open it, expecting it to be a long apology full of lame excuses. Instead I saw
MEET ME IN THE COURTYARD AFTER SCHOOL AT 3:15.
It wasn't an apology at all. It was more like a demand. How dare he demand me to meet him somewhere, he has no right.
Still, I wanted to forgive him. Although my feelings for Harry were still alive, my feelings for Niall were stronger.
I decided to put meet Niall in the courtyard at 3:15 on my schedule.
