Aubrey and Nicki were on his laptop trying to look up information on Averie and her secret engagement. But they kept hitting dead ends because...the relationship was a secret. The truth was that Averie wanted to debut as singer and stray away from her mother's spotlight. Averie fell in love with a guy who also owned a record label. When he found out that she wanted to sing, he got her into his studio and gave her a record deal. After a few years of "building" her up as an artist, Averie got tired of the deal and the relationship and wanted out of both. But the guy let her out of the deal but not their relationship. He threatened to sue her for violating contract if she didn't stay with him so she did. She didn't know what would buy him out or get her out of it. The only thing she should manage to separate is their living arrangement. Aubrey had found this out once he made a couple calls back home to Toronto. It's a small town so when everyone talks. Everyone listens.

Averie got a phone call one night and rushed to the local police station. Averie rushed into Aubrey's arms as soon as she saw him.

Averie: Oh my god! What happened?! I got this cryptic message to come to the police station. Are you okay?

Aubrey: I'm fine. I'm fine.

Averie (Pulling his sweater): Are you hurt?

Aubrey: No. I'm okay Averie.

Aubrey wasn't scared or shaken up. He looked more angry and annoyed. When Averie was finally able to take Aubrey home she did her own line of questioning in the car.

Averie: What happened tonight?

Aubrey: You know how the guy you were with, set you up?

Averie shook her head.

Aubrey: I got set up.

Averie: By who?

Aubrey: I went out with this girl that I've been with on and off with and...

Averie: Wait. Your girlfriend set you up?

Aubrey: She's not my girlfriend.

Averie: Ok then why does something like this not seem legit to you?

Averie can sense the tense tone in his voice.

Aubrey: Because they only took one thing. They only took my chain. They didn't rob her and her purse was out in the open. They didn't take my car which is a nice car. No one can fucking be trusted.

Averie robbed his shoulder.

Averie: I'm sorry. (Turning Aubrey's head) Look, you need to not focus on the negativity that's going on. Focus on your album and your deals and your friends-

Aubrey: And you?

Averie paused and stared at Aubrey blankly. She was surprised that he still was even thinking about her after him finding out about her engagement.

Averie: What?

Averie dropped her hands and retreated back to her side of the car.

Aubrey: I know how to get you out of this contract engagement.

Averie: How?

Aubrey: I'll buy him out. I know which label I want to sign with and I want you. And to have you I'll buy him out.

Averie: You don't have to do that.

Aubrey: I want to do it. I want you. (Grabbing Averie's hands) The way that you've reacted tonight proves to me that you're one of the only people I can trust.

Averie: I just didn't want anything to happen to you.

Aubrey: And now I want something to happen for us.

Averie smiled.

Averie (Starting up her car): Well, I'm guessing dinner is out of the question. (Looking over at Aubrey) How about we go back to my place and get drunk and watch Cheaters.

Aubrey (Smiling): I'd love that.

When Averie and Aubrey got back to her condo, she went upstairs to change while Aubrey made himself comfortable. When she came back downstairs, she reached into the pantry and got two bottles of Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio and two glasses. She knew it was Aubrey's favorite wine. It was basically his favorite drink. She sat on the couch and handed Aubrey a glass and poured him some wine.

Aubrey: Thank you for tonight. For being there.

Averie smiled and sipped her wine. Her soft spot for Aubrey was growing deeper and deeper. Truth be told, if Aubrey was hurt any type of way but mentally, she would've been distraught. She cared about him and thought about him the entire time he was gone. She made it a mission to know what was going on when he wasn't with her. And Aubrey was starting to slow down on who he was with and the manner in which he approached them. Aubrey might've had a groupie or two on tour but that was tour life. Something totally different from fame in Toronto. This was a bigger, raunchier place. America. Where places like Houston, Atlanta and Los Vegas were crawling with girls that would take Aubrey in a heartbeat. But being there when Aubrey got robbed and being there when he came back from the tour in general was enough to prove she was somewhat loyal to him.

After a whole bottle of wine, Averie was laying on Aubrey's chest as the TV was only heard at a low tone.

Aubrey: Promise me you'll never change.

Averie (Sitting up): What do you mean?

Aubrey (Reaching in his pocket): Lucky for me, no one stole this. (Pulling out and opening a box with a necklace) If you take this, promise me you'll never change.

Averie was drunk. And surprised. She took the diamond heart pendant and looked at Aubrey shaking her head. She turned around, moving the hair from her neck and Aubrey put the necklace on her. She touched the heart that fell to her chest and smiled. And turned and looked at Aubrey that looked at the necklace. Then at her. Her guard against him was shattered and he never really had one for her (that was his problem when it came to other people). Aubrey grabbed her face and kissed her. Aubrey pulled Averie on top of him and held her on his lap as they kissed. Aubrey never really imagined himself in the position he was tonight but Averie didn't expect to rescue someone and still end up being rescued. It was a sign that their unit would be in a reoccurring motion of them caring for each other. She needed him to feel needed and he needed someone to hold him down.
