"Remember the past like you'd remember a fallen friend."
∫
The last thing Elara remembered was screaming viciously as Poe was taken away in a separate direction as her. She remembered that it felt as if someone was choking her. A choked cry for Poe forced itself up her throat, and she felt a drop run down her cheek. It seemed as if this was the end of the road for her. Then, her vision went dark and the last thing she remembered from that moment was hitting a metal surface.
Now, as she lay against an uncomfortable chair with restraints over her ankles and wrists, she sighed in defeat. A stormtrooper stood by the door, positioned with a straight posture and grim expression...of course it was a grim expression, he's stuck wearing a helmet forever.
"You there!" She bit her lip. "What do they call you?"
The stormtrooper didn't reply, clearly scared of the greater force.
"I can't hurt you if I'm being held hostage." Elara rolled her eyes.
Realizing he was safe from the Jedi, the trooper responded. "FR-2222."
"That's too long to remember." Elara huffed, desperately trying to make small talk. "How long was I out FR?"
"Twelve hours."
"That long huh?" Elara looked around the room she was in. It was made out of nothing but metal and computers. "The person I was with, what happened to him?"
"That's confidential." FR stated.
A lump grew in her throat. If Ren had killed Poe, Elara was positive she'd break and go crazy. The constant fear that he could walk in at any moment made her keep talking. "Any specific reason why Ren has me locked in here?"
"You are apart of the Resistance and used your lightsaber against Lord Ren." FR reminded her.
"Oh right..." She mumbled.
"That was childish, even for a Jedi." FR retorted. "That is a death penalty."
Her stomach dropped and her mind drifted to Bellamy and Jude. Terror struck her face and she began to helplessly try and remove the restraints. Her entire body shook and she began to sob.
FR was just about as shocked as she was. Her outburst was a mother's instincts, she had to escape, she had to escape for them! A blood curdling scream left her lips as she tried one final time to remove the restraints but they wouldn't budge. Eagerly, FR took a syringe to her neck and she was met by a numb feeling and her body went still. Her mind was still alive and chaotic but she could not move.
Elara lied in the half-light, utterly still, eyes open as if admiring the heavens. As Kylo approached the door of the prison block, FR took off in a frenzy. Her lips had turned blue, her skin was pale and her eyes dull, with tears brimmed at the surface. Her body seemed lifeless but she knew he was there, watching her vulnerability.
If she could open her mouth, she'd spit at him but she was like ice. He circled her multiple times and in this process, the numbness began to drift away and she could move her fingers once more.
His mask made him a different person, the voice that it projected was not his and it never would be. Kylo leant against the wall closest to her and spoke. "You grew up."
A bit of drool escaped her lips as she desperately tried to move her lips and get her snarky comment out. "I can't say the same about you with that mask on."
Kylo almost laughed but his reputation was too big and he replied with a simple movement that hurt Elara even more than she thought possible.
He took off his mask.
Behind the mask was the boy...or man she fell in love with. He looked older but not by much and his hair was a little longer...he looked really good. The faintest hint of scruff shadowed his chin and his facial expression was...well it was sharp and mysterious.
"Done starring?" He questioned, his voice deep and raspy.
Ashamed, Elara turned away and said nothing. She toyed with the fabric on her cloak, desperate to be anywhere but here.
He circled her once more as if he was admiring her. Elara felt the pull towards him, wanting to touch his face or embrace his taller figure but her anger was too strong.
"You've been with the Resistance all this time?" He pondered, taking a swift step closer to her. "I never thought to check."
Elara clenched her fists, desperately wanting to take a swing.
"I'm surprised that you, the great Elara Jane joined such a petty group." He put his face extremely close to hers, testing her ability to withstand him.
"The great Elara Jane left when Ben Solo was murdered." She moved her face to glare at him. "I'm not the same person either." And with her pride, she spat in his face.
Stuck between actually being disrespected and hearing the name of his old self, Kylo turned away, wiping the saliva off with his gloved thumb. Desperate to spite her, he returned. "So what are you now then? Nothing?"
Before Elara could reply Captain Phasma entered the prison cell. "Lord Ren, it appears we can't get anything out of the other prisoner."
Elara's head snapped up. "Poe?"
Kylo looked back at Elara with a sinister look. "Tell Hux that I'll be taking matters into my own hands."
"You wouldn't!" Elara gasped, trying to release the restraints once more.
"Is that all sir?" Captain Phasma questioned.
Forgetting his great power, Kylo reached out his hand and hovered it over Elara's forehead. She was vulnerable and unable so her mind was unguarded. To her misfortune, Kylo saw almost everything. Everything but Bellamy and Jude.
"Send a scout out to the planet Naboo." He told Phasma. "I want Gail and Sabellius Jane, alive."
Elara's eyes widened. "You monster!"
"Now I'm the foolish one. How could I have been so blind? You, Skywalker's favourite padawan, ran to her parents and hid." Kylo retorted.
"And you, the nephew of Luke Skywalker did the very thing you vowed not to do." Elara fumed.
"Shut up!" Kylo roared. "Don't ever say that name again."
"Make me."
