Chapter 33

Espo pov...

I'm standing with Lanie at the body of the new case. Ryan, Beckett and Castle all walk up with big smiles on their faces.
I ask "why are you three so happy?"
Lanie looks up and says "yeah, what's going on"
Beckett says "Castle and I have finally finished all the planning for the wedding"
Lanie says "finally, your wedding is in two months"
We laugh and I ask "Ryan why are you so happy?"
Ryan says "Jenny's pregnant"
We all say congratulations before we go back to the body and Beckett asks "what do we have Lanie?"
Lanie says "male, early thirties gun shot to the head. Looks to be execution style"
I say "wallet and ID were found in the trash bin down the alley, his ID says he is a Keagan John from here in New York and he is 33 years old"
Ryan and I go canvas the area while Beckett and Castle head back to the prescient to set up the murder board and look at security cameras in the area.

We all met back at our desks and Beckett found a black van the murderer left the scene in and in the process of tracking the plates. Ryan found one witness who is working with a sketch artist to get an ID of the killer.

Lanie calls in and says we have no match in ballistics but it was a 33mm bullet used to shoot him.

The witness who wanted to stay anonymous finishes with the sketch artist and we run the face through the databases and we get one hit of a former gang member Omar Issacs. We get a location of his place and put on our vests and head to his house where he is watching tv.
We arrest him and a gun was found on the table near him.

We go back to the prescient and Beckett and Castle take the interrogation while Ryan and I go down to Lanie to match the gum to the bullet.
It is a match so we go back to our desks as Beckett and Castle walk out of interrogation and Castle says "he's not talking but he did test positive for gun shot residue"
Ryan says "we got a match on the gun so we know he did it and don't need a confession to prove it"
Beckett nods and says "why don't you two try and see if you can get anything out of him before he is taken to booking"

We try but he doesn't say a word so he is sent down to booking as we can charge him with murder without a confession as we have prove to proof he did it without reasonable doubt.

We finish the paperwork, I still find it weird for Castle to do paperwork as he didn't for so many years but does now that he became a detective. After the paperwork is finished its home time so we all leave and go home.
