Chapter 41

Beckett pov...

I'm stuck on desk duty as I think Gates wants me on maternity leave and to be safe. I'm doing this one last case with Lanie before we both go on leave ready to have our babies. I'm happy that we are having our children at the same time as they can grow up together and they can possibly be friends just like their parents.

Castle, Espo and Ryan head out to the scene of the next case. A body was found in a dumpster in between two apartment buildings, cause of death was a stab wound to the stomach. They get back from the scene and inform me on what they learned. The victim is 25 year old Lola Macy who was identified by one of the managers of one the apartment block she was found in. She lives with her husband David, they normally keep to themselves and are good tenants who pay on time and don't cause trouble.
We work on getting a warrant to the apartment, finding out more about Macy's life and tracking down the husband. He doesn't answer his phone and isn't at work or home.

I set up the murder board with everything we know. Ryan and Espo head to Lola's work where she works in website design. They head in to see what they can learn from her co workers and boss.

Castle and I talk to Lola's parents, I'm allowed to as I'm not leaving the precinct. They say that they were worried about Lola because she had stopped calling them as much as they used to. They thought it might have something to do with work or they didn't want to think that David was controlling what she could do.

Ryan and Espo find a close friend of Lola's who tells them that David was controlling of what Lola did. She also tells us about a lake house they used to go to.

Castle, Ryan and Espo head out to the lake house and find David just sitting there with no reaction to them arriving. They bring him back to the station and into interrogation.

We talk to David and he says "it was an accident, I loved Lola. She didn't do as I asked and I got angry and overreacted then I stabbed her."
I send him down to booking while we finish off the paperwork charging him with manslaughter as he didn't plan to kill Lola but he did and showed remorse for it.

I pack up my stuff and see the boys and Lanie standing there. Lanie asks "girl you ready to take a break from this place ready for our babies"
I nod and we leave and go home.

I'm so sorry for the wait for an update. I feel like I say that a lot but I have heaps on in my life which doesn't really give me much time to write. I'm working on trying to write more when I can so I don't  know when I will be able to update next.
