After lunch, I sat down at my desk began looking through the assignments I needed to do, along with the assignment I had with lunch. But before I could get halfway through, Chris sat on my desk and held out flowers.

“Hi,” he said, gesturing for me to take the flowers.

“…Hello.”

Chris noticed me looking back and forth between him and the flowers and began to explain why he brought them to me.

“You said I had to woo you… so here you go. You’re wooed.”

I chuckled. “I’m going to need more than flowers.”

Chris hopped off of my desk and knelt down so we were the same level.

“Then let me take you on a date.” When he saw my hesitation, he added, “It’ll help you forget about Titanium.”

I looked to the side and pursed my lips. “I don’t know…”

“Common, Vic. Please? You’ll get to see my pretty face…”

I snorted. “Well I’m definitely sold, then,” I said sarcastically.

Chris smiled. “Good. I’ll pick you up at your house at seven. Dress casually.”

He stood up and walked away, swaying his hips. Before turning the corner to get to his cubicle, he turned around and winked, “Yeah, that was for you.”

When I got home at around six, I raced upstairs to find something to wear. I was actually feeling pretty excited. I almost forgot about Titanium before seeing the note on my bed.

Victoria,

I’m sorry I had to leave you. Hopefully you’ll find someone to replace me. It’s important to forget about me, so have fun, go out in the world and do whatever it is you do best. Take pictures of Paris, or of Egypt.

Love,

Titanium

Putting down the note, I thought about it. Does he really love me after the short time we had been together? Or was it just one of those friendly things?

I decided not to read too much into it and take a shower. When I got out, I put my hair in a towel and got dressed in what I had picked out earlier.

By the time I had finished, it was already seven. The doorbell rang two minutes later to reveal Chris in a button down shirt and slacks. And in his hand was a blindfold. I looked at him with wide eyes, waiting for him to say something.

Chris finally realized I had seen the blindfold and exclaimed, “Oh! This is so you don’t see where I’m taking you! I’m not going to kidnap you or anything.”

I laughed and closed the door behind me. “After being kidnaped by a villain, being kidnaped by you would be like taking a surprise vacation.”

Chris laughed along with me while putting the blindfold on.

As he led me to his car, we talked about things we liked and didn’t like; it was all things to get to know each other.

When he led me out of the car, I could smell trees and grass. We walked for a few minutes before Chris told me I could take my blindfold off.

What I saw blew my mind.

The sun was setting on the horizon, and we were standing on a cliff. The sun left a golden reflection in the water and the sky was blue were we stood and pink, purple and orange by the horizon.

“It’s beautiful,” I whispered, still clutching the blindfold by my neck.

“I know.”

When I looked over to Chris, he was looking back at me. I smiled, which made him smile back. He stepped closer to me, but I turned around and began to walk away from the cliff.

“So what’s the rest of the date?”

Chris pulled me back to the cliff by my wrist and kissed me on the lips. He put his hands on my waist while I had mine on his face. When we pulled away, I saw Chris blushing.

“Sorry, I had to do that,” he said, looking into my eyes.

He grabbed my hand and walked me over to a clearing that had picnic tables and trashcans. We sat down at the tables and Chris pulled a picnic basket out of nowhere. While we ate, we talked about the newspaper business, Titanium and other superheroes we had heard about on the news and each other. By the time we had finished eating, the sun had completely set and the area was lit by the moon and stars.

We walked away from the area and started walking toward Chris’ car when he said, “I really like you Victoria. I know this is probably a horrible thing to say, but I’m glad you and Titanium aren’t together.”

I glanced at Chris. “Were you jealous?”

Chris smiled slightly. “Kinda.”

“Aw. Aren’t you cute.”

Chris gasped. “So I’m pretty and cute. You really must stop with this compliments Victoria; you are boosting my ego.”

I pushed him playfully and said, “Shut up.”

Chris laughed and pulled me closer to him, sitting us on the roof of his car to look at the stars.

This story will probably end around chapter 30. Not before chapter 30, though. After. So in-between chapters 30 and 40.
