Âncora / Anchor

Assim como no mar a âncora é sinônimo de firmeza para a embarcação, uma tatuagem com esse desenho pode representar firmeza, segurança, convicção, tanto física quanto ideológica. Em contrapartida, seu peso pode representar também um atraso, um fardo a ser carregado. A isso se ligam ideias de abrigo, proteção, apoio, estabilidade e confiança.

É válido abrir um parênteses aqui para citar a âncora dentro do contexto religioso. No cristianismo primitivo, a âncora com o elo sobre a barra horizontal era utilizada como símbolo da Virtude, assemelhando-se assim à cruz e ainda com a vantagem de passar despercebida a não-cristãos.

É possível localizar até em Segundo Hebreus 6:19 uma citação direta à âncora: "Nós temos a esperança como uma âncora para a alma, firme e segura".
