  O filtro dos sonhos foi Originado através das tradições de tribos indígenas nativas da América do Norte, uma das lendas diz que o filtro representa o ciclo da vida, e garante que o filtro tem a capacidade de neutralizar ou impedir que energias negativas interfiram nos sonhos e na vida de cada um. Lógico que isso não vai impedir ninguém de ter pesadelos pois os antigos afirmam que até os pesadelos trazem consigo diversos aprendizados se analisados corretamente. 

O círculo representa a totalidade, o infinito e na verdade o círculo da vida. Já o trançado representa ateia da vida que simboliza as fases, escolhas,oportunidades a serem tomadas ao longo da vida. Mas, existem diferentes formas de tecer a teia, tudo vai depender da tradição e também da intenção do modelo escolhido para ser usado tanto no quarto quanto na tatuagem. Ao centro da teia existe uma ligação entre as linhas ou um espaço, segundo a lenda o centro representa o grande mistério da vida, o criador e a força que sustenta o universo.
