Ella was gone, that was probably the best thing to happen to James since being released early. Although his happiness didn't last long when he was woken up in the middle of the night by the printer going off down stairs. He groaned, he didn't hear his father getting up. So James forced himself up, his feet touching the cold floor. "I can't even sleep in peace." James muttered, walking down the stairs to where the printer was.
James frowned, paper was all over the place. Hundreds of sheets, James hit cancel but the pages kept coming. "The fuck?" He muttered, clicking cancel again but still nothing. He looked around, and pulled the plug and the pages stopped. He picked of the page up, scanning the paper when he realized it was the dead pool. An updated version of the dead pool.
Derek Hale was off the list, and the two beta's prices went up to eighteen million each. "Shit, shit, shit." He repeated, he grabbed every single piece of paper off the floor. He couldn't let his father see this, because then James would have to explain the list and why James had the number eighteen next to his name, why some names were crossed out. Those names had been in the news, after their deaths. James could make a good enough lie or distract his father enough to make him forget about the list.
He looked around and saw no other papers, he let out a sigh running his fingers through his slightly wet hair from the shower he took. After for a fourth time, James made sure their was no more sheets he went into the garage and recycled the papers, covering them up with older trash. He only kept one copy to show Scott the updated version of the dead pool, and hopefully Scott would know why Derek was off the list. Considering Derek was the third name that broke the final part of the list, James was concerned.
When James returned to his room, shutting the door behind him he saw his phone lighting up with the contact name Liam flashing on screen. The two hadn't talked much since the after the hospital, it had almost been a week and Mason was noticing the issues going on between the two. One minute Mason would notice them being fine, the next they wouldn't even talk to each other. Anyone Mason would ask, they'd both just shrug it off and go back to their work, or head to class, go to the fitness room, anything that would avoid the conversation.
"Hmm?" James asked after clicking accept, Liam sighed with relief that James actually answered. It was his third time calling, and Liam was getting worried.
"The dead-"
"Updated, I know." James cut him off, staring at the one paper he kept. "Eighteen million, and no Derek Hale. I got the same message. Printer went crazy and shit." James added on, Liam remained silent; but even through the phone James could hear Liam's heat racing. "We can tell Scott later, cool?"
"Yeah, I guess." Liam mumbled, about to speak again but James hung the phone up and laid in his bed. James shut his eyes, and fell almost instantly back asleep.

James was standing with Mason, when James saw Liam walking nervously, with a terrified look on his face, and reeking over fear. His heart was racing faster than it was the previous night, if it was because of the dead pool; James might have been under reacting. Although, James could sense that it was more than just their prices going up fifteen million dollars. "Liam!" Mason called, James following Mason to their friend. "Hey, am I going to see either of you at the bonfire tonight?"
James had heard about the bonfire, it was to celebrate the beginning of the lacrosse season. It was just a bunch of teenagers getting drunk around a fire, and James couldn't be more excited. It took a lot of convincing; but after James coming home sober from the lake house party- Owen let him go. "Yes you will." James smirked.
"I'm thinking about skipping it." Liam admitted, shaking his head.
"You aren't skipping it." James stared at him, his face remaining straight. "Before you ask why, I'm going to tell you why." James slung his arm over Liam's shoulders. "Mason and I are going to find you a really hot girl to embarrass yourself in front of." Liam wasn't paying attention and James noticed- but Mason did not.
