It'd been a month since the night that I'd broken into Tyler's place for Adrienne, who was now sleeping in my bed, and a month and just a few hours since Tyler had even given me the time of day. At work it'd been simple, he'd watch me like I was any other employee and promoted Alan to be his own personal secretary if he'd needed to tell me something. It was embarrassing, but needless to say, I knew I deserved it.
The desire I used to see in his eyes before all of this, had dwindled. I hadn't seen him break a smile in weeks and I knew it was because of us. We'd broken his trust and I knew that, but now things were easy. I came to work, did my job, stayed fifteen past close to make sure everything was up to par and then I'd leave with no sight of Tyler ever.
I didn't have to think about him everyday anymore, I didn't have to walk around and pass his office thirty times just to see if maybe this one time he'd tell me to come in so we could talk. I just went through my day as if he were anyone else.
Simple.
Practical.
Easy.
After that night, I'd brought Adrienne back to my place. I'd explained to her that she could stay in my room, until she could find a place. She agreed, promising that she'd keep up after herself here and try talking Tyler down from his stance on the both of us after what happened.
Nothing had changed though, if anything he'd been even more irritable then I'd ever seen him and anything involving me, he wanted nothing to do with.
"Another day in hell," Adrienne huffed, exiting my bathroom with her normal attire of something far too revealing and a pair of combat boots.
I smiled, reaching over to grab my pumps that were extremely work happy on my feet and stood up, "Ready?"
She looked me up and down, eyeing the small pair of black shorts I'd chosen to wear, "Sure am simple Sam."
I waved her off, adjusting the straps on my red tank that kept everything in, "I actually get great tips in this outfit, thank you."
"As in, tips on what to change?" She questioned, smacking me on the ass as I watched her walk out.
I groaned, half in pain and half because she was right. So what if I was a little plain, everything was covered that needed to be and everything that could be given a little preview, was exposed. Wasn't that enough?
"She giving you a hard time on your outfit again?" Chloe entered my room, swiping up my curler from the floor, "Can I borrow this?"
"How'd you guess?" I narrowed my eyes with a smile, "And yes."
Chloe smiled, plugging in the end at the outlet in my bathroom, "Well I think you look fine, Kens. Anything else just wouldn't be you, ya know?"
I tugged on the end of my hair, giving the strands one last run through as I snuck a headband through to keep my bangs from taking over my face.
"Thanks?" I laughed, "Does that mean I'm still tip-able though, that is the question."
Chloe returned with a glare, shooting me a wink to follow up her answer, "Put on a lace bra and then I'll even be tipping you tonight."
"Done," I shot back, flipping through my underwear drawer for the perfect one as we began laughing in unison.
We'd came into work early tonight, but that didn't mean anyone else had gotten the memo. Tyler and Alan were bartending, something they usually did until we came in and before it got too busy to have no one managing the place.
Adrienne stiffened as we entered, as did I when Tyler finally looked up to see us come in. His eyes scanned right past Adrienne and Chloe and landed on me quickly, sending me a message that I wasn't welcome but he'd still let me work tonight. His gaze unintentionally roamed down the rest of my body and for the first time in awhile, he'd actually let himself get away with it.
