Megan's P.O.V

It has been three days since I have left my room. The only time I see anyone is when Ashton comes in to bring be blood so that I will survive, but what's the point? The people that I thought cared about me clearly don't give a crap and I have to stay in a house with them. To be honest, if they had the chance, they would probably kill me. I wouldn't blame them. All I've done since I got here is ruined what they previously had and shared. Why don't I just leave? I could... I have the strength... I have the abilities...

They have the abilities to find me, but would they even try?

We'll find out soon.

Ashton's P.O.V

I went to check on her again. I found her how she always is, curled up on her bed, shutting out the world and each of us, including me. I miss the way that she used to be... laughing... smiling... happy. Her and the boys need to talk this out if any of us are going to be able to move on from the events of this week.

I want to be able to reach out to her, but right now I know that she needs her space. We'll get through this, I just don't know if she will... She came into our lives just over a month ago and we know hardly anything about her. The person that she got closest to was definitely Calum, but Luke let his jealousy get the best of him and ruined it for them both. Now, I don't know what to do...

Megan's P.O.V

I heard Ashton come in and leave again. I knew it was him because no one else wants to see me. I knew that I was going and no one was going to stop me because none of them actually cared anymore. Where I was going I had no idea, but hopefully I would get far enough before anyone noticed that I was gone.

Out in the forest, I found comfort in familiarity. Knowing that I had been out here before, increased my confidence in getting away from them, the people that brought hell upon me. I would give anything to have my own life back again, no matter how much I suffered. I wonder if Kian is worried about me. It's been over a month since I was meant to go round his after work, but...

I don't know how long I had been running for, but I think it was long enough for me to slow down, so I started walking. I slowed down until I eventually came to a stop.

Leaves rustled and twigs snapped from every direction, but there was nothing anywhere. My eyes darted around the darkness, trying to find the maker of this noise, but again... nothing. You would have thought with my new vampire senses I would be capable of finding this thing.

A twig snapped again, causing me to whip round to finally find the thing that was making the sound.

There before me stood a man, human, dressed in black. He seemed different somehow, like he knew what I was, but that was impossible. Unless, the boys forgot to tell me something. I should tread carefully around him, just in case.

"You've got no chance against me I'm afraid," I mocked.

"I would rethink if I were you," the stranger smirked, reflecting my own mockery.

I watched as he reached for something that was tucked into his belt. He clearly wasn't being cautious about me seeing what he was doing, as he obviously knew exactly what I was. The object in his hand was a gun. What did he think that was going to do to me? Clearly he had no idea.

"She must not realise what this has the power to do..." The stranger spoke in his mind, oblivious to that fact that I was able to hear every word that her spoke, aloud or not. This left me intrigued. I want to know what he's talking about, but should I risk my secret?

He held the gun out at arms length and aimed at me. Not knowing what this gun was capable of increased my fear. I took a step back and he pulled the trigger. I should have thought quicker because I couldn't step out of the was fast enough and the bullet embedded into my shoulder. That's when the burning started. It spread from my shoulder to my chest. The pain was unbearable and I screamed in pain. I fell to my knees, clutching my chest. A laugh left the man's lips.

"Stupid leech," he sneered. "You must be a newborn. Not knowing the different between a regular human and a hunter. That was no ordinary bullet, it was crafted out of wood, wood from the one tree that can bring an end to your parasitic existence." The pain made me immobile, forcing me to listen to the word that came out of his mouth. "Me and my brothers will bring an end to this plague that your kind have unleashed and kill you all. We-" A deafening crack was heard and the hunter collapsed to the forest floor. My eyes widened, my fear heightening even more. I wouldn't last much longer if the pain intensified.

Michael was stood where the hunter once was. Seeing him didn't help my condition. I felt like I was folding in on myself. I don't know what this bullet could do to be, but it clearly wasn't something good. A tear fell down my cheek as another scream slipped from my lips. Michael's eyes softened and his face washed with concern. I tensed up when he walked over and crouched beside me.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

I didn't have the strength to be sarcastic.

"No," I grunted, the pain getting worse by the second.

Luke was all of a sudden beside Michael.

"Oh my God, what happened?"

"Hunter. Advanced. This isn't good, I don't know what he did to her," Michael replied.

My vision began to blur. I blinked quickly, trying, but failing, to regain my vision.

"We need to get her back to the house. Can you get up?" Luke asked me.

I leaned on my uninjured shoulder and applied weight, but fell back down instantly.

Luke bent down, reaching out to lift me.

"Don't touch me!" I exclaimed, refusing Luke.

"We don't have time for this," he huffed.

"I'll do it," Michael inputted. "Is arguing really going to help her condition?"

He lifted me into his arms, being careful with my injured shoulder, but the pain was now everywhere and no matter how careful he was, he couldn't avoid hurting me. I screamed in pain once more, feeling my body start to become numb from the pain and begin to shut down. My eyelids became heavy. Michael started running, the air rushing in my face.

"Stay with me Megan," Michael urged.

I tried, but my body was telling me no.

Michael continued talking to me, but I only heard muffled words, my mind not being able to make them out.

The light brightened, then I was swallowed by darkness.
