Brandon's POV
And we did it. I ended up where I've been dreaming of ending. I'm at a loss of describing how amazing it was last night. She gave me everything she had to give. She was generous in loving me back the way that I never thought that I could love her.
Every kiss and every touch last night sent me to places that I never thought I could reach. Having those kinds of feelings last night was something that I least expected. Back when I played in the field a lot, I only thought that having a one night stand was just something every man should do to satiate every lustful desire that they have. But last night, I just didn't do it for fun. I did it to show how much I love a woman. I did it to show how much she matters in my life right now. And for the first time in my life, I made love.
I watch her now sleeping soundly. Her head was resting on my chest and I can feel how tired she was from last night. Her mouth was slightly agape as she breathed in and out. I can't help but trace the lips and remembered how they made me feel good last night.
She started to stir and when she opened her eyes at me, I felt complete and the memories of the night we shared came back to me.
"Good morning," I greeted her as she leaned up to meet my waiting lips.
"Good morning."
She made herself comfortable by my side and snuggled closer to me. I kissed the top of her head when she already found a nice spot. "I love you."
Hearing her say it just made my day. There was nothing left for me to do but to say it back.
"I love you, too and I'll never get tired of saying that every day."
She hugged me and it made me feel more than bliss. This can only mean that we're not going anywhere but in bed. But of course human as we are, we had other needs to take care of. I heard her stomach grumble and we both laughed.
"You tired me out too much last night," she whispered.
"No... I think you tired me out too much last night. I didn't know that you had moves, babe." She blushed red and hid herself under the duvet. I took the duvet and tipped her chin so that I could look at her flushed face.
"Hey...I'm just kidding but for what it's worth, I'd love to share that kind of night with you again and again. I love you, Calleigh."
"I love you, Brandon." We both shared a couple of kisses more before getting up and having breakfast.
---------------------
The following weeks that followed made me feel like Calleigh and I fell into a regular routine. On weekdays, she'd go to work and I attend to the foundation that Tim has left me to look after and on the weekend, both of us would go visit the kids at the hospital. Calleigh really liked going to the hospital and even made sure to bring something for each child there.
She also had this particular special liking for Isaac. I mean who wouldn't like the little tyke. He may be sick but his soul was so strong even cancer couldn't take it down. I remember one time Isaac just couldn't take his nap because he wanted to talk to Calleigh about his dream birthday party.
On our way home, Calleigh was gushing over what to do at his birthday party. It was just three days away and she was so excited to see the look on his face. We've managed to call some party planners and everyone who knows him. His doctors were even accomplices. His nurses were so excited to surprise him.
The day of Isaac's birthday came. Calleigh decided to take a day off from work to join the celebration. She was giddy on the way to the hospital.
"I can't wait to see Isaac's face when he knows we've got something for him."
"I know babe. I'm excited, too."
We got to the hospital and we just went straight to meet up with Elydia and the team that is responsible for the party. We grouped in his room and set everything up the way that he wanted to. He once mentioned that he liked the animation about a car who could talk. I could see the sparkle in Calleigh's eyes as she sees everything coming together.
A few minutes later, it was time for us to hide and wait for Isaac to come. He was back from his chemotherapy session. He and his mother along with his nurse and his attending physician were coming back to his room. The plan was that I was going to meet him in the hall and let everyone get ready to sing a birthday song for him.
"Hey, buddy!"
"Brandon!!! Do you know what day is it today?"
"It's Thursday bud."
"Yeah and do you remember what's special about today?"
I shook my head, pretending that I didn't know that it was his birthday today.
"It's my birthday today!"
"Oh! I forgot about your birthday! I'm sorry bud."
I saw that his smile was replaced with a crest-fallen expression. I then got down on one knee since I know that when I said "birthday" out loud, everyone in his room were going to start singing a happy birthday song to him. Then they did. Calleigh was in front of the line bringing the birthday cake for him.
His smile returned and then he wanted me to carry him in his arms since he was frail and weak after the session. His mother just stayed glued to our side and started to cry. A nurse went to her and comforted her.
"Happy birthday, dear Isaac! Happy birthday to you!" they sang.
"Make a wish little man," Calleigh whispered and then he blew the candle. Everyone cheered for him. We were all sending our greetings to him. Gifts were given to him and he received them with gusto. But then the next thing came totally unexpected.
Isaac collapsed.
