Josie's POV
I am lost in my thoughts as I walk through the side gate and onto the school campus in the direction of my locker. It's the beginning of the second semester and today is first day of practice after school, I am debating whether or not I want to go home but I only have a few more months left in this hell hole before I graduate so I decide not to.
I approach my locker and open it getting the my notebook and book that I needed for first period sighing before I slam it shut looking up and locking eyes with a smirking Calum. I'm not in a talkative mood hence that it is seven in the morning so I send him a smile and walk off in the direction of my class.
Halfway to class the bell rings and the hallways come to a sense of chaos, I get to my class and walk in before sitting in my assigned seat waiting for Brea to show up who is usually five minutes late everyday.
"Hey Jos, I didn't see you at the party Friday. You never miss a chance to get hammered." My friend Kian says as he walks closer and sits in his seat.
"Oh I was there I just got occupied pretty quickly..." I say laughing a little as he chuckles.
"You have practice today?" He asks, "Yea and no telling how long my coach will keep me." I say and let out a dissatisfied sigh.
"Dude me and Justin wanted you to go roof topping with us on that one building we've been talking about and maybe kick it there. " Kian says raising his eyebrows and smirking.
"Why don't we just wait til tonight to go." I suggest and he nods okay, Brea walks in as soon as the tardy bell rings and makes it without getting handed detention.
"That was a close one." Brea breathes and she sits down and turns to me before rambling on about how she ran into this cute boy out in the hall.
For the most part our economy teacher takes the whole period going on about how much we need to stay focus this quarter and not slack off even though we only have a few more months left before we all start our adult lives.
I tell Kian that I'll meet him at our group table at lunch before I head to my second period class with Brea. We both got creative writing second semester since it is considered acceptable credit towards our GPA but isn't as strict as a regular standard English class.
We enter the classroom and head to the middle of the room selecting our seats.
I notice that our teacher is rather older looking and couldn't have a care in the world. The bell rings and everyone shuffles into class finding their new seat for the rest of the year. I cannot help but notice that Calum and his friends are in this class due to the fact he decided to sit directly behind me.
"Hey sweet cheeks." He whispers through a laugh. I simply shake me head and chuckle before fixating my attention on our teacher.
"Hello class, let's skip all the nonsense and make this short and sweet. As a welcome present from me to you, I would like a four page paper about your thoughts on graduation and your future. I want it on my desk by the end of this week. You may get to work. " Mr. Riles says before walking over to his computer and focuses his attention on the screen. This class might be okay I guess.
Calum keeps tapping my shoulder repeatedly and I finally decide to turn around.
"Yes?" I say smiling but roll my eyes slightly.
"Our teacher just so happens to look like Mr. Fredrickson from UP." He says and we both make eye contact for a moment before bursting into laughter. I turn to Brea and she kinda caught on and joined in.
"I didn't take you as the writer type." I say and he shakes his head in disapproval.
"I'm quite poetic if I do say so myself." He responds. "Oh really?" I say smirking.
"No my counselor decided to put me in this class, so I really had no choice." Calum says nodding his head before Lucas catches his attention and they start talking about something else.
I decide I should start jotting down ideas for my paper so I take out my notebook and begin scribbling down ideas just to start forming my paper.
"What are you doing after practice?" Calum asks as the bell rings and I begin packing up my stuff.
"Oh I already have plans." I say as Brea pulls on my wrist urging me to hurry up.
Two periods pass and lunch finally rolls around as I make my way to the snack area/lunch yard. I spot Brea with Justin already seated at our table and I look for Kian but just before I turn around someone comes up from behind me and places their hands around my face covering my eyes.
"I don't even have to guess who it is." I say and I hear Kian laugh. We walk together to the table and I take a seat beside Brea and Kian joins.
"Are you going to come with us tonight after practice?" I ask Brea grabbing a snack out of my bag.
"No Luke invited me to hang out with him and his friends." She says looking over in the direction of his and Calum's table.
"Oh ok well if you get bored or something with them you can always hit us up." Justin says and starts talking about his classes just as I catch eye contact with Calum, I expect him to look away after a few seconds but he never does.
I turn my head for a moment and when I look back he is still staring so I flip him off and he motions to his wrist asking what time and I just shake my head while smiling. In a matter of seconds I see a girl sit next to him and practically throw herself on him and I try to focus my attention back onto Justin and Kians conversation.
I glance back over and see them eating each others faces off and I laugh to myself for thinking that he actually had an interest in me.
