Augustus and Alex

The Beginning

Augustus was a shy boy with bangs. He tried to stay under the radar but got bullied a lot, especially by Alex, a dumb popular kid. Alex came to Muthin High School in his sophomore year, and immediately thought he ruled the school. He bullied Augustus for no apparent reason, and always paid attention to every mistake he made. Augustus was worried to be himself, so he tried to be that kid that never talked. When he got home, Augustus's dimples were released as he hugged his grandma, who waited for him every day after school. Augustus lived in a beautiful blue house with a farm, where Augustus and his little brother Al took care of the horses. Augustus was very hard working and would spend a lot of time working on his homework, but he always created time for his family. He never missed a meal with them, they were the only people Augustus trusted.  Augustus's parents came home in the evening after work, and it was something Augustus never missed. Augustus has a beautiful relationship with his parents. 

Augustus was walking into Advanced Math when Alex came. Alex had the Zayn Malik hair and dark brown eyes the girls died for. Deep down, Augustus thought he was cute. But he didn't want to admit it because he was so mean! He put his binder down on his desk, where "Mikey+Olive" was written all over with EXPO marker. Augustus brushed it off with his sleeve, secretly hoping he would have a relationship like them one day. 

"Listen class! I need you to get working right now! You have a 100 point project that will be due by tomorrow!" The whole class groaned because Ms. Germa had no life and gave them huge assignments to do. Every week they were given 3 projects. The door suddenly slammed open. It was Olive in a bright neon jacket holding a box of chocolates. 'Of course,' Augustus thought to himself. Every morning Olive brought Mikey a box of chocolates and after school Mikey would buy Olive ice cream from the ice cream machine. Olive walked over to Mikey and kissed him on the nose. "Good morning sunshine," Mikey said as Olive stroked his hair. Olive smiled and walked away, and then ran back to Mikey and kissed him on the cheek. He gave Mikey's cheek one last stroke before he ran off to whatever class he had. 'GOALS,' Augustus thought to himself. Mikey and Olive were the school's favorite couple, they were adorable. Everyone's hearts fluttered when the two were together. 

Augustus looked at Alex, who was already staring at him. Alex quickly got up and whacked Augustus's desk onto the desk. Of course, nobody cared or heard. Alex brought his head down to Augustus's ear and whispered "loser." Augustus's eyes started to fill with tears when Tammy got up and started to walk towards him. He ripped off Augustus's beanie and threw it across the room. Augustus was worried, that was the beanie his grandma made for him. He loved it, she had sewn hearts on it. Tammy grabbed Augustus's backpack and took out a Sharpie. He started to write "gay" all over it. He threw it back onto the ground and grabbed Augustus's face. "You loser", he said "you're just a gay loner. Nobody likes you. Just die." At times like these Augustus wished that Emma and Sara were there. They always stood up for Augustus, which Augustus really liked. He wanted to stand up for himself but he didn't know how. He was too scared, too scared of his secret. He was gay and he had told nobody. What if Emma and Sara stopped standing up for him because he was a freak? They seemed to support Mikey and Olive, but still. He wasn't sure, and he was afraid. 

Mikey grabbed his bike, he had to bike awhile before he got to his house since he lived on a farm. He saw Emma and Sara start walking and he ran towards them. "Hey guys.." "Augustus! How are you?" asked Emma. "Your sweatshirt is goals," said Sara. "Yeah, um thanks... I need to tell you guys something." Sara and Emma stopped and Sara ruffled his hair. "I--- I don't like girls." Sara and Emma looked at Augustus and smiled. "AWWWWWWWWWW AUGGIE!!!!" said Emma. "What is it" asked Martha. "I'm gay." Martha started to smile and laughed, and gave Augustus a ginormous hug. "Let me hug you too," and Sara hugged him so hard Augustus questioned if he could breathe. Augustus was so happy he told them, and he was so glad he had friends. 

Augustus was barely out of Muthin High School when a rock hit his tire. He fell onto the ground and hit his arm hard against the sidewalk. "ow" He heard laughing behind him. Of course. Alex. "aw do you want your mommy?" said Alex as he walked up to Augustus. Augustus got up and brushed himself off. He was not going to give Alex the satisfaction of his tears. "hey wait up" said Alex as Augustus picked his bike up. Augustus ignored him and rode away. Little did he know that Alex got him ice-cream.
