Augustus and Alex

Hidden Truth

Augustus slowly pulled away. He couldn't believe what just happened. 'Did he just KISS me?! I thought he had a girlfriend..." Augustus started to blush but his face turned pale. It was Tammy. "ALEX?! YOU FRUIT!!!" Alex began to shake and he pushed Augustus. "I ain't gay. I was dared to kiss him." "Well the loser's blushing. SO ARE YOU!!!" "I'm just mad you think I'm gay." "What's your girlfriend going to think?!" "I'll tell her. Stop over exaggerating." Tammy rolled his eyes and whacked Alex. "I don't want you hanging out with me if you're gay." "I said I'm not." Without another word, Alex grabbed his basketball and walked away. 

Augustus couldn't focus on his lunch. All he could think about is how AUGUSTUS FROLICKING KISSED HIM AND SAID HE WAS DARED TO. What?! That made no sense. Augustus didn't want to like Alex, but he just did. Even if he bullied him, his heart still fluttered every time he walked by. "Soulmates," said the Buzz Feed quiz Augustus took. Augustus shook his head. He was not going to let his heart get broken. 

Alex ran to his locker. He opened it and slammed his backpack into it. How could he do that? He wanted to walk away and wink, and then Augustus would get the hint! But Tammy just had to see! Alex face-palmed himself. Augustus would hate him even more now. What if Augustus had liked him?! Alex completely ruined it for himself. Augustus deserved someone better, but even at the thought of Augustus with someone else broke Alex's heart. Alex grabbed his basketball so he could clear his mind at the basketball court, but he knew it wouldn't. He walked outside to he grass, and saw Augustus sitting by himself on a bench. He was very focused on his book, and his hair swayed back and forth because of the wind. Augustus suddenly looked up and caught Alex's stare. Alex could see the hurt in Augustus's eyes. Alex's heart began to hurt because he put that poor angel bean through all this pain. Alex stared into Augustus's blue eyes until Augustus turned away. Alex put on his baseball cap and started walking towards him.
