Nina, wake up
get up
seriously.
Nina I swear to god.
You leave me no choice.......
With a jolt, Nina's eyes widened as freezing cold water hit her body. Jumping out of the river she had suddenly been submerged in, she froze as she saw her reflection on the waters surface.
"I told you to wake up" a voice suddenly said out of no where
"are you......."
"A wolf. Yes."
"no I mean are you....."
"Yours? No"
"Then who's are you....."
"I'm no ones wolf. We just happen to share the same body."
"Have you been here the whole time"
"Yes. I have, however something seemed to have been preventing me from revealing myself to you. For that, I'm sorry. You seemed to have needed my help many times, yet I could only observe. My name is Frost."
"Ah....I see"
"I hope we can become good friends Nina"
"Thank you. I would like that" Nina said to her new friend. Even though she was really talking to herself in a sense, it was still a nice feeling to realize you weren't trapped on this planet alone.
Going back to reality, Nina once again looked at the reflection of herself in the water. Instead of her long golden locks, she had snow white fur. It was so white it was almost blinding to the eye. Her ice blue ices looked even colder against her snowy fur. Overall, she looked pretty damn nice..........for a wolf. An oddly big wolf at that. For some reason, Nina's wolf looked to be larger than the average wolf. Even though Nina only stood at about 5'6, her wolf stood at about 6'3. That was quite odd, since your wolf was only ever supposed to be as tall as you. Nina had never heard of a wolf being taller than the person whom the wolf was.
"where are we" Nina asked in her head. Hopefully this was how she could communicate to Frost. Through her thoughts.
"I'm not really sure....."
"wait......you don't know where we are?!"
"Listen Nina. I only did what I thought was best for you. Our mate rejected us. Your supposed 'pack' all hate you.......no offense or anything but getting out of there was for the best...........for the both of us."
contemplating what Frost had just said, Nina realized she was right. Staying in that pack was never good for her. It hurt her both mentally and physically......its not like anyone would care if she went missing. Would they? No. They wouldn't. They never cared about Nina. Plus, all she had ever wanted to do was get out of there. Now was the perfect chance. They had humiliated her, abused her, destroyed all the self confidence she ever had, and just took her existence for granted. She didn't need them anyway.
"that's the spirit" Frost said. Then after a moment, she added "alright, maybe you should try moving around a bit..........as a wolf."
Realizing she was still in wolf form, Nina started to get a little bit excited. Frost was right. Nina had never been a .... wolf....
Taking a step away from the river, Nina focused in on her surroundings. She was in a forest. That much she could tell. She sniffed the air and realized her senses had been heightened....a lot.
She could smell things she had never smelt before. She smelt the musk off the bark of the trees. She smelt the critters of the woods all scurrying around, hoping she wouldn't notice them. She smelt all the wild flowers flowing through the wind. Every scent different from the other, yet distinguishable enough so that she could recognize them.
"try the hearing. Its even better"
Listening to frost, Nina lifted her head up and perked her ears. Widening her eyes, she realized it really was better. Never mind the scents, now Nina could hear everything so much more clearly. She could hear the nibbles the squirrels made as they chewed on the nuts they were gathering. She heard the fish in the river splash, as if playing a game of tag. She could hear every little thing from a mile away.
"this is amazing! Do I get this as a human too!?" Jumping around, Nina started yipping in excitement. This was the best thing that had ever happened to her!
"no....you don't" Nina stopped yipping.
"Your human senses are still heightened....don't get me wrong, but not as much as in wolf form."
Wagging her tail, Nina started yipping and bouncing around again.....Until she remembered why she was even a wolf in the first place.
"oh no don't go the---" but it was too late. Nina had already started thinking about the rejection. About the whole graduation in general.
Her mate. How could Jessica reject her? Nina wasn't that pathetic....was she? Feeling tears start to blur her vision, Nina heard herself whimper. It sounded so weak. Pathetic. But, at the same time, Nina felt her heart shatter at the amount of pain that was held in that one noise.
Nina started to get angry at herself for being so weak. She heard herself growl at nothing in general as she thought about all the times she allowed everyone to beat her. To humiliate her. Now that she was free from them, she realized how much she despised every single one of them.
Her mother
Her father
Her sisters
Everyone
She hated them all. She even started to feel angry at James. Even though he never hurt her, there were plenty of times where he could have intervened or helped her. Sure James was all she had but he could have been so much more if he had just tried.
Oh well. Now she had Frost. She didn't need anyone. No one. All she needed was herself. Herself and Frost.
"don't worry. I wont be going anywhere"
with a new found determination, Nina started along the forest. She would start a new life. She didn't need a mate. She would learn to live without the affection. She never had a family, so that one wasn't really that hard to live without. She could only hope Frost would be enough, because their survival depended on it.
