Six months had gone by.
Six perfect months.
Strangely, nothing horrible had happened to Nina since she joined the Triton pack. Everyone was kind to her. Many had found out she was into girls, and they were all okay with it. She had gotten closer to the alpha sisters. She had gotten especially closer to Skylar and Kylie. She even got a job as a waitress with Skylar at a restaurant in the city.
In fact, right now, she was at her job.
"One Greek salad Mika!" Mika was the head chef at the restaurant.
"Coming right up"
Nina continued walking to people and taking their orders. She didn't hate working at the restaurant like a lot of the other waitresses. The pay wasn't bad either.
"Greek salad!" The bell rung and Nina went over to grab the food. After delivering it to the couple who ordered, she continued walking around. It seemed as though Nina was one of the more delightful waitresses so she was often given good tips, and many phone numbers.
"Order up!" Another meal was served.
It was almost time for Ninas shift to end. Her and Skylar finished at around the same time. Unfortunately, the restaurant was situated in a busy part of the city so Nina couldn't shift and run home. Instead, she had to get a ride from Skylar since Nina didn't have a car, or a license.
After serving for another 30 minutes, Nina and Skylar finished their shifts and began heading home. The days had only been getting hotter and the two of them were sweating by the time they made it to Skylars car.
"Its so hot" Nina began fanning herself with an empty packet of gum. It was the only thing she could find in her purse large enough to create a little gust of air.
"Its nine and its not even dark" Skylar turned the air conditioning on as soon as they got into the car. Both girls sighed as they felt the cool air on their faces.
"Oh my gosh. So much better." Nina slumped into her seat. In situations like these, she was thankful she couldn't drive. She would rather just relax and feel the cool conditioned breeze on her face.
"The girls said tomorrow is going to be the hottest day of the year." Nina scrunched up her face in distaste. She didn't hate the weather, in fact, she normally loved summer. The only thing that sucked was that she had to work six days a week, which gave her little time to actually enjoy the warm air.
Nina groaned and slid further in her seat. "But we have work tomorrow!"
Skylar grinned and shook her head. "Actually, were going to be taking the day off and going to your dogs funeral"
"I don't have a dog..."
"Not anymore you don't" Nina looked at Skylar for a second before she broke out into fits of giggles.
"Oh my god Sky! Your a genius!"
Skylar just shrugged. "Don't thank me. I just did it so I could watch you get thrown into the water tomorrow."
At first, Nina thought Skylar was referring to a pool of some sorts. She assumed they would be swimming at the Alphas house with the rest of the girls.
"Oh I know that look"
"What look?"
"That look where you realize something but then it turns out to be completely wrong."
Nina furrowed her eyebrows. "So we aren't going to the pool tomorrow?"
Skylar only rolled her eyes at how right she was. "No you big doof. Were going to the beach!"
