21. A Year and a Half

"I still can't believe you almost got me fired today" Nina swat away Mayas groping fingers while she accused Skylar. The girls were in the car, driving to go pick Oath up from the airport. It had been six months since she had left to go find her mate, and yesterday, they had finally gotten news that she was coming back.

"Its not my fault Mika asked you out. I had to squeal!" Nina rolled her eyes at that response. "In my defense, how was I supposed to know that you would throw the tray on the customer!"

"Wait...Mika asked you out!?" Nina ignored Maya while she threw an accusing glare at Skylar.

"First of all, I didn't throw the tray. You screamed so loud a customer jumped and hit the tray out of my hands!" Taylor snorted a laugh.

"Wait. Mika asked you out!?"

"And also, while were on the topic at hand, mind explaining why you practically groped that woman trying to get her shirt clean?" The car suddenly swerved to the right. Everyone looked at the driver, Alexis.

Alexis cleared her throat before mumbling out an apology. Moments later, she stopped at a red light and turned her head to Skylar. "So why couldn't Kylie come again?" at the mention of Kylie, Skylar gave a long, exasperated sigh. "she's been so busy witching her way around life, she hasn't been able to come out at all." Skylar pouted while mentioning this and looked out the window. Alexis seemed a bit distracted but car horns snapped her out of her daze and she began driving again.

"Well she got better so what's the fuss." This time it was Angie who spoke. she had been unusually quiet for most of the car trip so the girls had forgotten she was there, even though she was practically squished in the seat between Maya and Nina.

Nodding in unison, the girls fell quiet. No one had anything to say so they all just sat in silence for the rest of the way there

"Oath!" three voices shouted at the same time when they saw familiar black hair. Taylor, Alexis, and Maya ran to their older sister and squished her with a giant hug. Nina noticed Angie didn't look as excited to see her sibling.

"Hey...is everything alright? You've been acting weird lately."

"I'm fine." Angie looked a little bit hostile as she said this. In fact, Nina was certain she heard Angie call her some unpleasant things under her breath. Even though Angie wasn't her own sister, Nina couldn't help but worry for the girl. Lately it had seemed like something was up with her. She had even noticed her going out more. Apparently she'd been hanging with a new group of friends. Maybe that was the problem.

"Angie I don't get a hug?" Oath grabbed her younger sister from behind and picked her up. Even though Angie was the youngest of the sisters, the 17-year-old was the same height as Alexis. Both girls stood at 5'7, while Oath stood the tallest at 5'8.

Angie groaned while Nina and Skylar awed at the scene in front of them. suddenly, Oaths eyes got wide and her face turned red. She quickly ran back towards the crowd of people she had originally come from, and moments later, came running back with a boy in tow.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so so so so so so sorr-" The boy laughed and kissed Oaths cheek. Oath turned a little red and faced to the girls. "Guys......this is my mate...Carter." Carter smiled and waved at everyone.

"Wow Oath. Why do you get such a hottie? Maybe I should steal him from you." Taylor joked. Oath glared at her sister while Carter gave a chuckle. Looking at Carter, Nina immediately noticed the stares he was getting from a lot of the women in the airport. She also saw the way he put his arm around Oath when he noticed these stares. Looking at the couple, Nina felt a small pain in her own chest. She didn't understand why it was there, she just suddenly felt this sort of......longing.
