Chapter 25

When the others had opened a portal to the dream realm, what they saw was ash. What was once bright, colorful and full of things that filled others imaginations was now dark, dreary and empty. Homes were destroyed by the incubi that had invaded, corpses were found almost every where they looked and the silence showed that death was previously there. As groups searched around, they eventually found few survivors. What once was thousands that filled the streets were now fewer than 100. Many were injured and the few that weren't were holding a weapon to try protecting them though they all radiated with fear. "It's okay." The leader of the group said holding his hands up in surrender, "We're here to get you all safe." the leader of this group was surprisingly Kuroi, he was helping the others get those that survived through the portal to where they could survive incase a second wave of attacks come. With him and his brother Jay, they both knew just how cruel their race could be. And if they came back there wouldn't be any of the dream eaters left in that realm and the dream realm would begin to crumble into nothing. One by one they went through the portal having their injuries treated by those who had the knowledge of medical science or the ability to heal. Unknownst to the group, a child was missing. To help the groups search they all had at least one that could sniff out other dream eaters and lead the groups to them. One was a child named Lyra and while helping her group search for the dream eaters that were hidden, one of the incubi soldiers that stayed behind grabbed her while she wasn't paying attention. It wasn't till Shinko had noticed it that the girl's parents began to panic. Mira looked like she was about to have a panic attack and both Shiro and Tsuyoi back in the dream realm searching for the little girl. Frowning Shinko tried to sneak out on his own to find her himself. The little boy had a crush on the girl that was older than him so he was still worried either way.

Each time he had tried to sneak out someone in his family would catch him before he could get outside the barrier protecting them, the first time his father caught him and scolded him for a long time. The second time his mother caught him and he ended up with getting spanked and scolded at the same time. Took a while for his butt to not be sore and for him to sit down, the two demon twins Sora and Yuto ended up scolding him too and giving him a noogie as punishment. Akari thumped him hard on his head so he ended up with a bump and not only did his parents scold him again they also scolded Akari for being rough on his little brother. When his older sister Mikoto caught him she just held him despite his struggling. "Think for a minute little brother." she sighed as she tightened her grip on him, "Say you found her, how would you get you both out safely? You're just a kid. They will kill you. And if you got killed trying to save her how do you think Lyra would feel?" she scolded in her own way. While Shinko knew she was right he still wanted to save Lyra himself. Looking up to look into her eyes, he's never asked why but not once has he seen her smile since the day he was born. After being around her for so long he's been able to tell how she's feeling despite the emotionless look on her face. Despite looking apathetic, he could tell his sister was also worried for her. With a silent sigh he relaxed and slipped out of her grip, hugging the older sibling. "Sorry... I know I might....Not save her but I'm still worried..." he mumbled in her shirt as she gently rubbed his back. "I know little brother but you need to stay here. Who knows, when they bring her back she'll be happy to know you were safe here." she said and tightened her grip again knowing the boy was still planning on leaving anyway.

When he noticed Lyra's scent in the cave again, he pushed himself away from Mikoto and ran towards her. She looked as if she saw something horrifying but as soon as she saw Shinko she ran over to him and hugged him tightly. "Thank you for not doing anything stupid..." she said softly as he nodded a little. When he pulled back a little, he did something that he normally saw his relatives do with each other, he kissed her. The others stared at the children in shock as Lyra's face turned red. Hokori went pale as he saw, really hoping his son doesn't go through the same thing he did when he kissed Shia as kids. "Daddy said that you only kiss the one you like. Or the one you plan on marrying. So when I'm older we're getting married." Shinko said determined as Lyra was blushing and Hokori shrunk under the stare he was getting from his wife and kids as if to silently say 'What the hell have you done to the boy?' And both Tsuyoi and Shiro stared at Hokori like they were going to fuck him up for misleading the boy and having the youngest in their hollow family lose her first kiss at 8 years old.
