AN: Helllooo! Sorry that this first chapter isn't very long, but I hope it gets you guys started enough. I'll be updating tomorrow, with hopefully a longer chapter :)

Addie’s POV

It has been three days since I left my house. I had been wandering the streets of Brighton and Hove, not getting much sleep. I had decided this morning while watching the sunrise that I would try to hitch a ride somewhere today. I didn’t know where, nor did I care, as long as it was away from home.

As I walked down a back road, cars passed and passed, none of them stopping. I walked for hours, and at sunset I was ready to give up. There came a point in time that I thought ‘Why am I even trying? Why am I even still alive?’ but I just ignored the feeling.

I kept walking down the road, my left arm held out with my thumb sticking up. Eventually, a car actually stopped. The man in the car looked slightly familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. He was wearing a pair of sunglasses and a blue and white checkered shirt, and he looked a bit scruffy, but put together well.

“Walking around these roads this late isn’t a smart idea you know.” He said.

“I’ve been at it a few days, you know.” I stated.

“I’ve never seen you round these parts. Where are you from?” He asked.

“A bit that way.” I said pointing in the direction of my house which was about a half hour walk.

“Do you need a ride home?” He asked.

“Anywhere but home actually.” I answered, “Do I know you from somewhere?” I asked.

He took his sunglasses off and that’s when I realized where I knew him from.

“Oh my god.” I breathed out.

He let out a chuckle before leaning over the passenger seat and opening the door.

“Get in, I’ve got a gig in half an hour and I don’t want to be late.” He said.

“Are you sure? You don’t even know me.” I hesitated.

“But you know who I am, and that’s enough for me.” He said smiling.

I climbed into the car and shut the door. I turned to him and thanked him before he began to drive. We exchanged names, even though I knew who he was already, and then sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes.

“Kind of weird, innit?” I asked.

“What?” He questioned.

“I’m a passenger in Passenger’s car.” I said with a laugh.

“That was so cliché.” He said with a laugh as well.

“I mean what else did you expect me to say?” I asked.

“I didn’t really expect much I suppose.” He said.

“Right, so deal with my jokes because you know it was good.” I said smiling.

He let out a laugh as we pulled up to a small venue. I hadn’t realized he had a concert here, otherwise I would’ve been standing outside trying to meet him, but look where I was now.

“So, I only ask that you endure my performance tonight, and then afterwards, I’ll take you wherever you want.” He said as he shut the car off and turned towards me.

“Wherever I want?” I asked.

“Wherever you want.” He repeated.

“Promise?” I asked.

“Promise.” He said.

“Okay.” I answered.

And with that, we got out of the car and he led me inside. I enjoyed the gig, singing along to most songs because I knew them all. Mike kept looking over to where I stood to make sure I was still there and occasionally he would send a small smile which I would return.

I had cried a bit during a few songs because the lyrics had always meant so much to me. I had been listening to Mike and Passenger since they had started, and when Mike went solo, I wasn’t about to stop listening. His lyrics meant something, and I related to some of them. He made me smile just by singing. His voice was that of an angel’s.

And whether he knew it or not, he was like a guardian angel to me, and I respected him for that.

Mike’s POV

As I finished the last song, I thanked everyone for coming out and exited the stage. As I walked backstage I found Addie standing there. She had obviously been crying, I could tell because her eyes were puffy and red. I walked up to her, handing my guitar to one of the backstage guys on my way over.

“Are you alright love?” I asked.

“I’m fine. You did great out there.” She said smiling.

“Thank you.” I said smiling back.

When everything from the gig was cleaned up and I was allowed to leave, I led Addie out to my car and opened the door for her. She got in and I closed the door behind her before making my way to the driver’s side. As I got in, I looked over at Addie.

“So, where to?” I asked.

“Well, to be honest, I don’t really have anywhere to go.” She said as she looked down at her hands.

“I’ve got the perfect place.” I said as I started the car.

“Where?” She asked.

“It’s a surprise. Get some sleep though. It’ll be a while till we get there.” I answered.

And with that, she fell asleep as I drove to London. I had a gig there in a few days, and there was someone I needed to see who would hopefully let Addie and I crash at his place for a few days. It would be an interesting trip, and hopefully I would get to know Addie a little better.
