The Oxford City Centre is without a word, the most amazing place I've ever visited. As compared to Tokyo, with most of its structures are modern buildings, this city is rather old but at the same time grandeur. Most of the buildings here are mostly only 4 storey high, and are about at least a hundred years old. It's rather amazing that I've come to this place and tour around, walk into every shop I fancy visiting. It's a rather good thing actually, seeing such helps me escape from the very awkward feeling I'm having whenever I'm with him.
Yes. That's true. I feel like I'm drowning in a sea of shame upon remembering the thing I did last night. Ever since that incident, I could no longer look at him straight into his eyes, or even be with him for at least just a minute. I just don't quite understand myself whenever I'm with him--my heart flutters, my stomach churns and I could feel my face turning beat red.
But now, we're here--touring the great city of Oxford. As of now, we're accompanied by Hitomi, saving the both of us from any more awkward moments. She makes our whole atmosphere lighter.
"I'm relieved you like to be toured around here." Daiki suddenly talks to me.
I uncontrollably twitched my shoulders before I could even reply.
"Y-yes." I chuckled--forcefully. "It's like I'm transported into Harry Potter's world actually. It's cool."
"Hey Daiki!" Hitomi then interrupts us as she forced herself between the two of us. "Can you please accompany to that pastry shop over there?"
"Idiot--how about Yuki??"
"I-I'll just wait for you here."
"Thanks Yuki!" She beams, pulling him away.
I threw a loud sigh. As I looked around, I feel incredibly lucky upon seeing an antique bookstore that immediately caught my interest. Without thinking twice, I entered the store.
The whole shop's wide and its interiors are that of an old, Victorian library--tall dark, wooden bookshelves, bronze chandeliers that give off enough incandescent light throughout the place, dark marble floors, and not to mention, its old antique collection of porcelain plates and figurines placed on top of lace covered tables. On its farthest end is a quaint cafe that offers cakes, pastries and various kinds of tea.
I entered as I started to roam inside the small maze of bookshelves. There are hundreds of books around here, I don't even know where to start, or even what to find. Most books here are composed of the classics as I scanned through their titles.
"Yuki?"
My heart skips a beat upon hearing that someone's deep and crisp voice that would barely even cross my mind. Of all places, why would we meet here, in Oxford, England, at this very shop?
I turned my head around to see him.
"Ryouske-san???" I called out to him with surprise.
"I should be the one who's asking you that." Apparently, from his expression as well--he seems to be in shock upon seeing me here.
"No wonder you've been absent for months now. Is it even legal for you, now that you're a teacher??"
"I've been running around in circles if I stay in Japan."
"What?" Now I'm confused.
"I've found the answer Yuki. I've found Ayase, he's here."
I let out a gasp. No matter how hard I run, it always comes to chase me. I remember now, the letter I read before at aniue's room--it says Ishikawa Ayumi, and she lives here at Oxford England, does he mean Ayase is Ayumi? No, it's impossible.
"But, he's rather...a she...now."
My eyes widen of surprise.
"Come Yuki, let's talk somewhere private."
My hands are sweaty. My heart's frantically beating so fast. My stomach's churning. I feel as if I want to vomit. Here I am again, close to the truth--the truth about aniue. He may have cleared out some things, but he never has spoken of the real reason why he murdered my uncle and the fact that he's friends with this person named Ishikawa Ayumi or Ayase.
Before anything else, we decided to sit in one of the cafe's table that's located at its farthest end, isolated from the others.
I can't believe, here I am, sitting with him, confronting about the truth and nothing else. I promised myself that I should no longer involve myself in any of aniue's issues. I no longer care about any of this anymore. I want to live peacefully, away from everything that involves my twisted family.
"No wonder why I can't find him in any records. He's living here now, as a transgender under the name of Ishikawa Ayumi."
He's the one who sent aniue that letter.
"To get this complicated short, he's the only witness who can prove that your aniue's guilty of killing Takazuchiya."
I can't find the words to say right now. How am I even going to react on this?
"That is why you're here?"
"Yes Yuki." He nods.
"So what are you going to do now?" I asked. My voice is stuttering.
"I don't have any other evidences--except for the fact that he's the only witness about this because he also played a part in this crime. But this is hard. I can't even defend Takazuchiya, he's already been wanted as a fraud. He's been accused of embezzlement, and libel. It's just he died first before the authorities could even arrest him."
"huh?"
"I understand your aniue, whatever his reasons are. It seems as if he's stealing from your company based on my research. He's helping Fujioka to purchase Miura corp.'s majore shares and own the whole corporation eventually--but Seiri's smart. He instead prevented it and...in effect--"
"He's the one who bought all major shares of FGC, thus--we already own three fourths of it." I muttered.
"Ayase--his role in this...It's just he's Seiri's bestfriend."
Another truth is revealed. I never knew him, nor have I ever seen his face before. How many secrets of him will I even find out?
"Ryouske-san. I would want to stay out of this. I no longer care if he owns Miura Corp. Being with him and that life is..." I paused. "If you'll excuse me..."
I stood up as I could no longer take any of it. I don't want to be involved in this anymore.
"If you want to arrest aniue, then do so. I no longer care..."
"Yuki, there's on more thing, before you leave..."
I gazed at him with my eyes in tears.
"have you heard about the news--it's all over the internet. Seiri has decided to break off his engagement with Chiyoko. I'm sure as his brother, you know about this news?"
I gasped with my eyes open wide. This couldn't be happening.
