The warning bell went off and I headed to my first class, band. I had been in band since fourth grade and could play a few different instruments. My main instrument was the flute. The band room was on the other side of the school. I waved at people that where my friends, or at people that I knew. I looked around, there where some freshman, looking around for classes.

"Hey can you tell me where the band room is?" someone asked from behind me. I spun around. A girl I had never seen before was asking another person where it was. The guy she was asking was giving her a look like she was crazy. Stupid good-for-nothing jock.

"Hey girl, you need to find the band room, then fallow me, that dumb ass isn't gonna know where to find it." I said looking between the guy and girl. The girl beamed at me, while the guy glared at me then flipped me off.

"Real mature." I muttered

“So what's your name?" the girl blabbed

"Tabbi, yours?" I said curtly

"Hannah!" she said enthusiastically. "Say, what year are you?"

"Twelve..." I said she nodded

"I'm a freshman." I could kinda tell, not that I was going to tell this to her face.

"What do you play?"

"I play the flute, any type of saxophone piano, and anything percussion, I'm also learning how to play the guitar." I informed her.

"That's awesome." she blabbed on about how she played the clarinet and how she wanted to become drum major when she was my age. I nodded.

"Look we are here..." I said and entered the band room with this freshman trailing behind me.

"TABBI!!!" a bunch of people shouted from their sections. I smiled and waved at them.

"Go sit with your section" I told Hannah. She nodded and went towards the rest of the clarinets.

"Tabbi?" Mr. Stevenson called me from his office. I walked over to his desk

"What's up Mr. S?" Mr. S was a short bald man. He had brown eyes and thick rimmed glasses.

"What do you plan on doing today? I'm sure no one wants to play since it is the first day back..." he said looking up and meeting my gaze. I shrugged

"Play the name game." I suggested. He nodded.

"Okay, go out there and get them under control." he said. I nodded and retreated from his desk.

"Okay guys, welcome back!" I yelled I only got a few peoples attention. "Guys!" can I get your attention please?" a few more people looked to me "Thank you guys for looking" I told them. They nodded. Ugh I really hate to do this I thought. "BAND,Ten'hut!!" I shouted loudly.

"SIR" most everyone shouted, going to attention. I got a few looks from freshmen and some new students that didn't know what to do.

"Thank you, now when I say at ease, if anyone talks without a hand, you will get push-ups. At ease" I said calmly. People moved to normal stances and there where still a few people that looked confused. Someone raised their hand. I nodded at them, giving them the okay to speak.

"Why did everyone just shut up when you did that?"

"If you are confused I will explain tonight at band-camp." I said. People nodded and stood there.

"Okay well we are going to play the name game, since it is the first day of school!" I said there were some groans, but mostly people just looked relieved to not have to play. "Please get into a circle." People started moving into the circle and I sat down. "So here is how the name game works. I will start, and you have to say your name, your year and your instrument. Any questions?"

“Tabbi! What about the random thing we have to say?" Scarlette said. Scarlette was a sophomore. She had blonde hair and blue eyes. She was really pretty. She was one of the few cheerleaders in the band, and she loved both!

"Oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me Scar! Okay and you also have to say....Your favorite band of the moment." "I'll start!" I said "I'm Tabatha, but call me Tabbi. I'm a senior, I play pretty much everything, but I mostly stick to the flute. And my favorite band of the moment is LinkinPark." I looked at the person to the left of me.

"Okay umm well my name is Beth." Beth had blonde hair with black underneath. "I'm a junior, but I'm new to band, I play the tuba and my favorite band... Lady Gaga." Everybody took turns saying everything about themselves.

"Okay well, that's everyone! So attendance at band camp tonight, and the rest of the week is mandatory if you are new, and wanted if you are a veteran band member!" Just as I said that, the ball rang and everyone went out the door. I stayed where I was and sighed. I was swinging my feet and waiting for the percussion ensemble to come in the door.
