I was thinking of what we could do in this class. The name game again of course, but it was a smaller class, and there were definitely not as many people, probably thirteen at the most. We would probably just hang out and do nothing. Just as I thought that, Ace walked through the door. Weird... Ace was never in band or anything.

"Hey Tabbi, how's it going?" he said

"Fine. What are you doing here?" I said coldly.

"Don't be so snippy, I joined the class thank you very much!"

"Why would you join this class? You have made fun of band since we were in fifth grade!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah, well this isn't band! It's drumming. There is a difference." he said coolly. I rolled my eyes.

"That's what you think. The percussion ensemble plays with the band still dip shit." I said.

“Tabbi!” I cringed as Mr. S. said my name from his office.

“Sorry Mr. S.”

"They do...?" he asked, dumbfounded. I nodded. "oh...." I rolled my eyes and stood up. The bell rang after a few minuets.

"Alrighty drummers, so here we are. In percussion. For those of you that don't know, we play with the band!"

There were one or two people who groaned.

"I just joined this class to bang things!" One of the guys shouted. I rolled my eyes. Of course. Some of the guys cheered in agreement, and the girls rolled their eyes.

“Okay…well we should all try to get to know each other so circle up, without a chair!” I commanded. “We are going to play a new game I learned at drum major camp. So what we have to do is go around and we will each say our name, and then do a dance move right after. Then everyone will say the person’s name and do their dance move. After the next person has gone then we say their name and do the dance move, and go back to the first person and do the same.” I Tried to explain.

Everyone had a confused look on their face. I sighed. “Okay um what’s your name?” I pointed to a girl wearing a bright pink shirt.

“Sarah.” She stated.

“Okay so say I go first. My name is Tabbi.” I stated and did a fist pump. “Then everyone would say “Tabbi and do a fist pump. Then we would move to the next person in the circle in this case “Sarah would say her name and”

“Do a dance move!” Sarah shouted excitedly and clapped her hands twice and spun around.

“And then?” I said “We say Tabbi and do a fist pump” Sarah and I said together. After we had finished learning everyone’s name and dance we just hung out and got to know each other better. I found out that Sarah was a newcomer but she was a junior. She was pretty cool and had a huge passion for drums and martial arts.

The ball rand and I dismissed everyone.

“Hey Tabbi…?” A masculine voice said from behind me. It was Ace. “What’s up, Ace? I said stacking up some chairs to put away.

“What is your next class?” he asked following what I was doing.

“I have a free period, why?” I said, through gritted teeth because the chairs were heavy and I wasn’t super strong.

“Here let me get those for you.” Ace said grabbing the four stacked chairs from my arms.

I blew my bangs from my face, “Thanks.”

“No problem, and I have a free period to, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out. For now.”

“Why do you want to hang out with me? I thought you hated me.” I said crossing my arms defensively.

“Yeah well I have no one to hang with; all my friends have a class right now.” I rolled my eyes.

“Okay that’s fine, but I need to go to my locker first.” I stated, and picked up my book bag, slinging it over my shoulder as we set off towards the senior lockers.

We reached the lockers and Ace leaned against the locker next to mine as I twisted in my combo. Ace was staring at me. I swiftly glanced at him and looked back to my locker and tried to yank it open. I sighed when it wouldn’t budge. I twisted the combo again and pulled, nt getting a result.

“Damn old locker. OPEN!” I yelled as if it would magically listen and do as I commanded. Ace snorted. “What?” I huffed.

“Stand aside, I’ll do this, what’s your combo?” he demanded.

“I’m not telling you my combo, are you crazy?”

“Yes, now, what is the numbers?” he said becoming impatient. I didn’t move to give him the paper with the numbers on it.

“No.” I said stubbornly. Ace put his hand around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I tried to pull away but he was strong, and determined to get the paper that was sticking out of my binder. “Let go Ace I can do it.” I said, but it was too late, he had gotten the paper and had let me go. I stumbled a little as my balance was thrown off from pulling so much. He quickly opened my locker and stepped away. I rolled my eyes and wondered two things.

One. Why did he want to hang out with me this period?

And two. Why was he so intent on getting my locker combination?
