I scooted into a chair in the back of the classroom, and waited for the second bell to ring. I saw a few people that were in my class last year, but none I really liked to hang out with. A few minuets passed, and I was happy the day was almost over, then I could go home, give mom the massive amounts of paper I received for her to sign and take a nap. I put my head down and thought about tonight’s band camp. I wondered if everyone was actually going to come, or if they were going to blow it off. Most of the time, a lot of people blew it off, making me mad, because then we would have to waste class time teaching newbie’s how to mark time and march on. The chair next to me scooted out, and I glanced up. A guy that I had never seen before smiled at me, and the said

“Mind if I sit here?”

“Uh…yeah sure…go ahead.” I said staring into his greenish brown eyes…I blushed a little and sat back in my chair. I Looked ahead, staring at nothing, my mind still swimming with thoughts of band camp. I pushed my bangs out of my face with my hand subconsciously and sighed.

“Is everything okay?” The mysterious boy said from beside me.

“Huh? Oh yeah, I’m fine…just thinking.” I smiled.

“Oh.” He said. I looked at him, studying his face. He had short brown hair, which fell over the top of his ears, and freckles that were lightly sprinkled over his strait nose. His dark eyebrows were just slightly furrowed; his eyes also studying my face.

I bit my lip slightly and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.

“So uhm…what’s your name?” I asked him, breaking the silence. He half smiled at me.

“My name is Grey.” He said. I cocked my head just a little.

“That’s a cool name…I don’t think anyone I know has that name.” I said stupidly. Grey chuckled just a little bit and raised an eyebrow.

“Well what’s your name?” He asked a full fledged smile now on his face, showing one deep dimple on his right cheek.

“Tabbi” I said simply.

“Oh that’s a nice name.” he said with just a hint of sarcasm. He laughed, and I rolled my eyes.

“Thanks.” I said a fake frown now on my face.

“Hey, I’m sorry if I offended you in any way.” He said, now sounding concerned.

“You didn’t.” I giggled. He smiled at me again and then the teacher walked in.

“Hello class, I’m Mr. Romlly, and I’ll be your teacher for this school year. As you know you are in A.P. English and with this class comes more hard work then your regular English peers. Please come to class everyday with a pen, blue or black ink and paper. If you fail to come prepared, then you will get an F in participation for the day.” Jeez this teacher is a hard ass! I thought to myself.

Just as I thought this, a paper was shoved under my elbow. I looked over, but everyone around me was looking strait forward. I looked down at the note and read it

Ever have this teacher before? –G

The note was from Grey. I grabbed a pen out of my backpack.

No, Why? I wrote and slid it back to him.

Because he seems like a hard ass

I laughed through my nose and rolled my eyes.

I was just thinking the same thing not even twenty seconds ago. Thanks for reading my mind!

No problem, just one of the many things I’m good at.

Oh, so you’re that type. The kind of guy that thinks he’s super cool?

Oh yeah, all the time. I’m a total douche, hell I even drive with one hand on the top of the steering wheel. Once I got the note back I couldn’t help but laugh allowed, quickly trying to cover it up with a laugh. Mr. Romlly gave me a very disapproving look.

“Sorry sir…won’t happen again” I said aloud. The teacher went on talking about what we were to be reading this year, and the movies we would be watching.

Kiss ass The paper said once I looked down again. I fake glared at Grey and he just smiled innocently back

So why haven’t I seen you around school? I’m pretty sure I would have remembered a name like Grey. I smirked as I handed the note back. Grey shook his head and started writing.

I just moved here. I used to live in Canada, but my dad got a transfer, and that’s how I ended up sitting next to you at 2:29 in the afternoon.

Oh…Canada eh? You wouldn’t happen to have any bacon would you? I passed the note back to him, and he rubbed his face to keep from laughing. Then he looked at me and with a big fake smile on his face he shook his head in a sarcastic manner. I pretended to be disappointed, but couldn’t keep myself from smiling. Yes…this year was going to be great!
