Liliana awakes in Shiro's arms a few feet before the entrance into Englewood. Shiro runs out of breath, gently drops her off, and collapses to the ground.
"Shiro! Are you okay?" she asks.
"Oh Liliana, you're awake. I'm glad." Shiro catches his breath and gets back on his feet. "I think we're here. There's a large wall surrounding the place though."
"Englewood is considered the safest town in Colorado because of its massive defense. The Winged Killers stay away from it for a reason."
"I see. Well we better get inside then." As they approach the entrance, a security guard greets them.
"Welcome to Englewood. Before you enter, however, I need to scan you to make sure you're not a Winged Killer" the security guard tells them.
"Scan us? What do you mean?" Liliana asks.
"I have a device here that can tell me if you're a Winged Killer or not. You know those sneaky bastards look just like us so we can't be too cautious. Anyways, I don't know how this thing works, but I've been ordered to scan all newcomers" the security guard explains.
"It should be alright then. Right Shiro?" Liliana asks him. Shiro looks at her.
"Right."
Why do I feel so anxious? It's just a scanner.
"Alright then. Here we go." The security guard picks up what looks to be a speed gun and points it at Liliana. He pulls the trigger and views the reader. "You're good to go." The security guard looks at Shiro. "Your turn."
I feel like I should to run, though I don't know why.
The security guard points the scanner at Shiro and pulls the trigger. He then squints at the reader on the scanner.
"What the hell? I've never seen this before..." Sparks fly from the scanner. "It short-circuited!?" The guard looks at Shiro. "I don't know what you are, but since it didn't read you as a Winged Killer, you can go in." Shiro nods as the main gate opens. He and Liliana then quickly enter the town.
Inside they notice the town is very similar to Aurora, with a single road that leads to the main district that also branches off to other neighborhoods.
"Whoa, it's like we're back home" Shiro says in amazement.
"Yeah...Hey Shiro?"
"What's up?"
"What happened with the scanner? You are Human, right?"
"O-Of course I am. I think the scanner was just defective." Liliana smiles.
"I think so too. Alright, follow me. I know where the base is." Shiro nods in acknowledgement. Liliana then leads Shiro down one of the side roads until they reach a door. The door is stuck in a wall and has sword décor on it. Next to the door is a statue of an angel. Liliana walks up to the statue and rotates its head. This causes the door to open.
"Whoa." Shiro is amazed by the whole process.
"Pretty cool huh? Let's go inside" Liliana suggests.
"Sounds good. I can't wait!" Liliana enters the doorway and Shiro follows right behind her. Inside is a wooden room with a table in the center of it. Paintings of people hang around the room. The sides of the room branch into other rooms. Sitting on a chair next to the table is...Kiyo-Sensei!
"Sensei! You made it!" Shiro exclaims.
"I did. I'm assuming Liliana has already told you everything about the AAWK" Kiyo-Sensei replies.
